At the time of my accident in July, I blue booked my car at $9,500 (private party, with 76,300 miles). The body shop and my insurance apraised my car at $13,115. Why the big difference in appraisal value, IDK.

Now that I have 90,000 miles, its probably blue booked at like 8K.

the insurance company always go with the part list on how much the parts caust to part it out and way it out to the blue book. if parting out the car causts less then the blue book they will total the car if it is an amarican and wont if it is a foren. my uncles 99 bmw 325 should have been totaled because the frame was pushed up into the fire wall his insurance still fixed it i think its messed up. because amarican parts for amarican made cars are lower than foren models i would think it would be in the favor of the insurance company to fix and keep amarican made cars on the road by fixing them. when they have been in an accedent my blue book droped sugnificantly due to the three accedents i have been in and i am thinking if i get hit one more time my monty will be totaled do to a scratches and a few dents.

According to KBB my Monte is only worth $3,215

That's pretty sad being that I spent more than that this year on the car.

i would have figured that amarican made cars have better value do to how easy it is to get the parts for a reasonable price and easyer to mantain with out an enginer degree. like euro and some japanies cars

but to think about it when i was over seas two years ago amarican cars had higher kbb than the cars made there. i was stationed in germany and went into afganistan but got hurt when there lucky that i could keep most of my foot and my leg. at least i cant run any more. but back on subject i think its wiered that amarican made cars are valued lower than amarican made hear and higher over sease.

If you want a more true value of your car then go into the bank and ask one of the personal bankers to look it up. They have a program that starts with an "A" I think it is AARP or something like that. That program is higher value then kelly blue book does and from what I understand is what alot of people use when they are valueing your car. Just a thought.
