Hi all! I was able to give Silver a really good 2hr detail today - he looks beautiful! He's gonna stay clean cause no snow in the forecast for at least this next week - maybe some rain on Wed to wash the nasty salt off the roads.

As you age you will notice that some clown will be predicting the end of the world and the worse things are in the world the more clowns making predictions. They have been predicting the end of the world since the time of Christ if not before. Just a lot of propaganda to scare people into doing one thing or another. Some how lots of people end up shelling out money. How spending money is going to change the outcome is beyond me. I can't tell you when the end of the world will come. I can tell you this. I believe what the bible says. If I understand it correctly; it says that the end will come like a thief in the night, no one knows when it will come.

Lou I have a suggestion for you. Just because your starter is a year old doesn't mean that it is good. I however would bet as you did and think the starter is ok. Now as far as the battery is concerned that is a different story. When it comes to batteries there are a few things of importance. The polarity is important, meaning positive is positive and negative is negative. The next important thing is the voltage. It should show a minimum of 12 volts. A strong battery will read 12.5 to 14 volts. The next thing is the cold cranking amps. This is amperage or the current available. I have seen batteries that show 12 volts and not even light the dome light. What you need to do is remove the battery from the car and do a load test. If the battery has voltage and load tests then you have other issues. I suspect a bad battery. I have seen batteries that failed internally that when you hook up a battery charger or jumper cables, the battery absorbs the additional available power but doesn't let it go beyond the battery. If you don't have a load tester take the battery to a parts store and ask them to check it for you.

Yeah Gregg I thought about taking the starter off tomorrow and having it tested as well as the battery. The problem I had with the starter before was it tested good but it was bad. the other thing that puzzles me is the headlights work strong but nothing else. No radio, no heater and no power windows.

Lou I wouldn't pull the starter at this point. I don't think it is bad. It sounds to me like first a bad battery. Even though the lights look strong, without doing a lumens test you don't know what the actual output of the lights are. You need th get the battery tested to eliminate that. You could swap batteries between two cars if you have that available to do some quick troubleshooting. Of course make sure your battery connections are tight and clean. Also check the length of the battery cables to make sure there is no break or corrosion. Sometimes there are splices in them that corrode or break. If there is a fuseable link in it make sure there is voltage on both sides of the fusable link.
If the battery and cables check out ok then check all the fuses to be sure they are all good.
If all the above checks out the next thing to check is the ignition switch. If this switch isn't making then there won't be power to anything else in the car. Just as an fyi the key tumbler assembly isn't the ignition switch. The ignition switch will be attached to this.
Lou I hope you find this helpful. Don't forget to check the battery cable connection at the starter.
