Are Station Wagons Cool?
I happen to think that next to a two door hardtop the next coolest body style is the station wagon or in some circles the beach wagon. I'd like your opinion on what wagons you think are cool and feel free to post pics. If you don't like wagons that is cool too, just post why. Prior to 1984 and the introduction of the Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager, every family just about had a wagon.
I will start this off by naming four.
The coolest wagon of all time would have to be the 1955,56,and 57 Chevrolet Nomad with the 57 being my favorite of the three.
The next one in my book would be Fords Country Squire with it being a toss up between the 1960 and 1964 as to which one I like best.
Next would be the 1979 and 1980 Dodge Aspen and Plymouth Volare Sport Wagons.
Last for me are the 1966 and 1967 Chevy II/Nova wagons.
For the chevy's the styling on both the Nomad and the Nova is just perfect and the size is right too. They would be practical even today.
Fot the Aspen and the Volare you could get it with the slant six and just look cool but with the available 318 or 360 it just wakes these cars up. Add to that you get the spoilers and special tape stripes just like the Aspen R/T and Plymouth Roadrunner. Inside you got bucket seats and a shifter on the floor with console.
The style of the 60 and 64 Fords were awesome but it was a love hate thing especially on the 60. Fords use of fiberglass and paint to simulate real wood was awesome too.

I think station wagons are cooler than a minivan.
Of course I like the classic Chevy Nomad. And the Dodge Magnum R/T is hot. That's why former MCF moderator Wiz Kidd sold his Tony Stewart edition Monte and got a Magnum R/T to "responsibly" drive his expanding family around.
