>Snow>Winter>Are you Ready ?
When the snow gets that bad as in your pictures stay off the Hwy, You maybe a great driver in the snow but you get one BOZO out there that will just ruin your day.
The Year was 1974 I owned a 1965 Chevy Impala, we lived in western Iowa and there was a blizzard. My wife and I had been invited to some friend in town and we were having a card game during the Snow. My friend gets a call from some friends of his. They had gotten off work early because of the weather and instead of going home they went to the local bar. All 3 guys had brand new 4wheel drive pickup trucks by the top 3 of the time. They were stuck in the parking lot of the Bar and they wanted to close because of the weather. My friend owned a snowmobile and it was in his pickup truck. He thought he would just run down and get them and they could stay at his place. He couldn't get it started, his pickup was 2 wheel drive. I said lets take my 65 down and get them. He laughed. I said don't worry we will make it.
I had Chains on the thing and weight in the trunk. I drove some 2 miles thru the town on hills and stuff in 8 to 10 inches of snow, Blowing snow, Thunder snow.
He couldn't believe it when we got to the Bar, neither could the guys when I picked them up. Telling me I would never get them to his place. I got them there and drove home to my place.
So I got stuck then in my drive way but the snow was above the bumper in the drive way. By morning it was level with the Hood of the Car. Took all day the next day to scoop the thing out.
Open the Hood and you couldn't see the engine as it was full of snow.
Remember when driving in Snow and Ice.
1. Don't touch the brakes (ever)
2. Dive in High gear.
3. Drive over the snow, not thru it.
4. Speed is not your friend.
5. It is suicide to use the cruise control.
6. 4 wheel drive will get you to the ditch quicker.
7. 4 wheel drive, vehicle drivers think they are invincible and drive that way, stay clear.
8. If a 4 wheel driver gets stuck he will ask you to help him get out.
9. Don't help them get unstuck give them the number for a tow truck
10. Know the limits of your vehicle.

2nd time that day I got stuck.
I am almost ready. My DD 08 Malibu is great in snow. Michigan is supposed to have a bitter cold heavy snow season (Boo)
Deuce of course will be tucked away in the garage.

If I hated where I lived, I would do everything within my powers to move to where I could enjoy life...(Florida is nice, but there's a price to pay to live in the Sunshine State
(Severe Tropical Storms, extreme heat in the summers, Hurricanes, etc)I hope someday you can live where you enjoy. I know easier said then done, but human life is short & it ends & we never really know when
`Habbibie, wish U the best in Life + the pursuit of Happiness p.s. Thanks Dale, Tadd & Member's for your contributions!!!

No everybody shut there mouth about!!! IM NOT READY!!!!
sorry denial is my only way to deal with it right now, not looking forward to another cold snowy winter... I felt like summer just flew by

Only reason I'm even looking for a 4x4 is one thing. Good luck pulling a loaded horse trailer out of the mud in 2WD. Come to think of it, when I had my 4x4 Dakota, the only time I used 4 wheel was to pull out of the mud. Buddy was stuck in the mud. She just wouldn't do it in 2 wheel. Kicked in in 4x4 and she pulled that old van right out like it was nothing.
When I lived in TN, 4x4s were status symbols and nobody knew how to drive them. Out here, most of the 4x4s are 3/4 ton farm trucks. If you can handle a truck in a muddy field, snow is a piece of cake. Most of those trucks have the same red tint as the dirt/mud/clay out here too.
I have a buddy in Northern VA who makes a good chunk of change during snowstorms. He has a 4x4 Burb and yanks people out for a small fee. Needless to say, he has no shortage of "business" LOL.
That being said, I hate cold weather. So I'm not looking forward to winter. I have no problem driving my 2WD Burb in it, but with the heat still not working, it gets rather cold. I think it's a wiring issue as I've fixed everything mechanical with the heat. With 300k on the truck though, it's time to retire her as soon as I have a newer truck.
