Small world...life is strange
24 years ago this month, just weeks before the Cubs clinched the 1984 NL East Division Title, Mom and Dad traded in their ("my") 1976 Monte Carlo:

Red, a tall, foreboding guy (well, at least to this at the time 10-year-old kid) was the salesman at the local dealership who promised this kid "his" car would be taken care of.
"Fast forward" to earlier this week, September 2008, Dad saw Red and told me about him and gave me his card. Red, no longer a car salesman, is now an entrepreneur with a business taking care of wheel covers and other misc auto parts.
Friday, September 19, I took the day off work...and decided to drive my older 4 MCs to celebrate my birthday. I got out to Phil's, where they are stored, and ended up chatting with Phil a bit longer than I had hoped.... But, I was "on the road" by about 11:25a...thinking that "everything happens for a reason" ... and just happy to have a gorgeous, sunny day for the festivities.
I decided to get gas in all of my MCs. During one such stop, I noticed this white van pull into the gas station...only because of the name of the company on the side of the van. I thought it sounded much like the card Dad had given me of Red's. I didn't think much of it, though, as I continued to put gas in my car. Next thing I heard was:
"Nice car, kid!"
I turned around, smiled, and said thank you. The gentleman then asked me my name. Generally, I don't like to yell that across the way, but since I already had a hunch who it was...I said it. The man nodded and said, "You know who I am already, don't you?"
I grinned, and said, "Of course! Hi, Red!"
We then chatted a bit.... Which MC was I gassing up at the time? Fittingly, of course, my '76 Monte Carlo:

Who'd a thunk 24 years ago that I'd be driving my own '76 Monte Carlo...and meet up with the guy that took "my" (Mom and Dad's) '76 Monte Carlo in on trade. AND...if I hadn't have talked to Phil as long as I did that Friday morning...I may not have even met up with Red "by chance".
This reminded me, once again, of my favorite road trip story:

So...how about you? Have any of those "wow" moments where if one or more things had gone just a little bit differently, a chance meeting wouldn't have happened?

Kinda similar. About a month ago, I swung by the Three Rivers Auto Zone cuz I forgot to stop at the one in Sturgis before I left town after work. (doing a brake job on the Monte Carlo). Got what I needed in T.R., and headed up US 131. I NEVER drive up 131, but I did that night. Missed my turn onto Hoffmann (forgot?), so I headed up to Marcellus hwy. I NEVER drive up that far. Haven't been east of Marcellus in 6 mo to a year! So here I am, heading west on Marcellus hwy, and 2 miles up the road, a van was parked on the side. As I blew by, an elderly woman stepped out, and gave me a look of despair. I immediately turned around and asked her if she needed help. She said she had a flat, and no cell phone, but her brother was up the road at a restaraunt expecting her.
Her right front tire was SHREDDED, and an OLD man was in the passenger seat. I called LadyT, got the # for the restaraunt, and let the lady call her brother, while I started to change her tire. (Luckily she had a mickey mouse spare in good shape.)
She asked for Walt Morris at the restaraunt, and I said I knew a Walt Morris. Turns out her brother was ONE of the Walt Morris's I knew. The old guy in the front seat was the OTHER Walt Morris I knew. Been 20 years since I've seen him, so I didn't recognize Walt Sr.
So I got the tire changed, no problem, and was just letting the jack down when her brother, Walt Jr. shows up. We recognized each other right away.
Walt Sr. used to own an old hospital, which was an adult "home", known as "Morris Manor".
God put me down a road I travel once or twice a year, specifically to help an old friend, stranded in the middle of the boonies without a phone. It was nice seeing an old friend, and being able to help them. I told them that God put me down that road to help them SPECIFICALLY, cuz I NEVER drive that road!
THANK YOU LORD for leading me down a different direction, to help an old friend. It felt good to be led by God to help someone.

That had to have been a goosebump/amazing experience when you figured out who you were helping...and why you ended up going down that road.
