Thanks for sharing. I think what you did is deserving of a thread
of it's own. I've never did any major suspension mod's or
repairs, but I know how important it is.
How long did it take to do ? (If you have the equipment/tools/knowledge to do ?)
What would it cost if a member took it to a shop to have done ?
What did it cost you ? (If U can share ?)
I think it would be a great thread to make on your update &
improvement to your awesome Monte S.S.
Thanks for sharing & being an active contributing member
to your Monte Carlo Family

Wish U & reader's a Safe/Super-Super WeekEnd!

It's not a difficult job to do when you're in a shop with all kinds of tools at your disposal, but it could be a real pita to do in your driveway. I provided my own labor and get a discount on parts so my investment was just over $350. Compared to a walk in:

Parts: $669.44
Labor: $579.50 ($95/hr)

Total out the door w/tax: $1301.04

Basic hand/air tools, a ball joint separator and torque wrench is about all you need to do the job. In a shop flat rate labor on the two jobs is about 6 hrs. Part prices vary depending on manufacturer. All parts I used were GM.

Cool >Thanks 'Mike<

Thanks 'Mike for taking the time to share & giving the cost for your updates. WoW > $95 an hour...I need to learn how to be a mechanic 4>Sure. That's 4 times more then what I'm presently earning. Your years of experience & mechanical abilities are rewarding.

Do you like your shop ? Do you have to supply your own tools, or does your company ? Thanks again for your detailed breakdown on costs.. Cars are expensive & so is life 4-Really>Sure..

All hand, pneumatic and specialty tools are my responsibility, but things like presses. lathes, belt sanders, floor & tranny jacks, etc. are supplied by the shop. I've always been a gearhead, so the job fits like a glove. Most of my coworkers are seasoned professionals so (most of the time) the place runs like a well crafted Swiss watch. Every day brings something new so the day doesn't become redundant. Oh - that $95/hr labor cost - we have one of the best labor prices in the area. A lot of places charge $140 and up for labor...crazy isn't it?

Good Morning EV1!

Mike: (SpaceRider)
Thanks for starting the "Members" Daily Blog!
Tell the bums we said hello if you happen to make it to the beach today!
Heard from Space?

Devin:
Looks like the southern half of the US is in deep dodo?
as wide spread as it looks... I see Texas is also included...
Not being to savy whats where in Texas... Looks like San Antonio is in for some rough weather as well?
I just spoke to my sister yesterday that lives in San Antonio and expressed to me about how they could use some rain down there... So, what I am saying/asking... any chance I should give her a call this morning and warn her of the impending weather?
Thanks Devin! We all appreciate your help/info!

Not much going on here today....
There is a local show at sears later on today...Not sure if I will be attending... I still am working on the broken dishwasher....

The Monte definitely needs a bath... But I cant wait for the weather to be near the 70's so I can give her a good waxing!
Have a Great Day EV1!

Thanks again 'Mike for sharing & giving member's information on cost & on your update to your Monte + sharing your expertise with member's.

It's great that you enjoy your work & your associates. Life is so much better 'if one is happy @ work & in life.

On the MSN site they state $65 an hour on their site for repairs, but everything in life is costing more & the dollars sure doesn't buy what it use to 4-$ure..Being raised by seniors, they always remind us on what they use to be able to buy for a dollar.

Cars are expensive to maintain & so is life. It pays to learn to do the basic things on any auto. I an do the basics, but I would not even attempt to do what you did to your suspension +...Thanks again for sharing..I enjoyed reading/learning 4-Real

Good morning everyone. Getting a bit of a late start today, finally got a chance to sleep in. I have to change oil in my moms focus today plus I am going to check my brakes as well. Should be a good day since I am off work.
