A sad day to make a top 10 list :(

"It's all a State of Mind"
It's so E.Z. 2 throw stones when you don't understand the mission.
There's so many awesome Monte Carlo's on the road & tracks that would dispel the impression of being `slow 4-Sure!
Super`Sleeper
Super Super Picture ~ Yes, it looks fast sitting still & faster when moving...
It's so E.Z. 2 wake `up a Sleeper S.S. 4-$ure...
Just pull `up to one @ a light & be SuperSurprised

Thanks Mod `Mike, for posting/sharing.
Thanks Member's 4 your pro's & con's & post(s).
I find it sad that there are so many that are so jealous in the automotive world.
Owner's of Monte Carlo's don't have to throw stones,
they are to busy driving & enjoying their ride
or making them better & faster 4-Sure

Okay... you can't own every car and write opinions on it. I admit, a lot of people think these cars are V8 and they look like they could be....
But I have to step up and live up to my title as this forums NASCAR Historian. WHOEVER SAYS THAT CAR WASN'T A GOOD TALLADEGA RACER IS A COMPLETE MORON!!!! The Chevrolet Monte Carlo could not be more at home on a race track than at Talladega, or Daytona. That was the era when big packs meant it took a strong car to get out front... Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Michael Waltrip for a while, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart... those guys couldn't get a Monte Carlo to the front of the pack there quick enough!!! Chevrolets DOMINATED superspeedways, and the design of this car was made just so NASCAR could run that design on superspeedways!!! They pretty mcuh shut Ford and Dodge out at Talladega and Daytona!! Just becuase a Ford won the championship like 3 of hte 5 years these cars were made, they dang sure didn't get there by winning Talladega.... or Daytona. Not jsut there... Ford drivers won the driver championships, Chevrolet Monte Carlo won Four of hte Six manufacturers championships between 2000 and 2005 Puh-leeze. Don't cross me here.
End of rant.... someone needs to check a NASCAR stat before saying that. Morons. I generally like Jalopnik though. Good humorous reading.

Referring to the Jalopnik comments...
Just because you watched a crappy Will Ferrell movie doesn't make you a Nascar expert.
I think it's easy to put cars on a list like this when you compare older cars by today's standards. It's easy to pick on the V6 2000-2005 SS. I couldn't help but notice they didn't mention the 303 hp V8 2006-2007 SS.
Jalopnik's lists are not created by unbiased experts. They're created by members opinions. Members who obviously have a bias toward one brand or another. Just like we do. Besides, Jalopnik is only meant to be entertainment. It's not Consumer Reports people.

I really dont think they are too slow! i mean 200-240 HP for a v6? what more do you want/expect!! Plus 300+ in my 06. thats plenty and it sounds amazing.
What brought me to my first monte, my 02 monte carlo ss though wasnt the engine, it was the looks! NOTHING looks like them, its the the same boring car look you see everywhere.

I think because of the size of the car, and it's ties with Nascar, people expect a lot more. You see it on Monte forums too. How many times have you seen someone post, "I like the 6th gens, just wish they were RWD and a V8".
I think I understand Jalopnik's thinking. Because the Monte is a larger car, the 200 hp or the 240 hp doesn't have the same effect as it would in a smaller car. For example, a motorcycle with 100 hp could blow the doors off of most muscle cars.
I think Chevy was headed in the right direction with the 7th gen Montes though. Base model with 211 hp, mid-level 242 hp, and a V8 powered SS with a respectable 303 hp. Not bad for a car that's not listed as a muscle car.
