Sounds good. A few weeks ago a buddy picked up a 2001 Silverado, 5.3, extended 4 door cab, 4x4 for around $7000 taxes and tags included. He got his from a private owner on a local classifieds site, similar to Craigslist. The miles are close to yours too. So I think $7000 to $8000 for a truck like this isn't too bad.

This is true, as with all vehicles it has surface rust I saw no extensive corrosion but as stated before and suggested by you too I will be taking it to the mechanic to get a full look over.

I looked evrywhere for a chevy 1500 with low miles and all were in the 14,000 range, and as I saw this I looked all over for soemthing with similar miles and package options etc, anyway the closest one I could find was an exact clone with 75,000 miles and was black which i like black most but they wanted $12,000 so I felt this was a pretty good deal.

You should probably sell the Gran Prix on your own if the dealer isn't giving you much on it. Fix the brakes and recoup some of your loses or sell it as is.

That is a good choice. You probably can't afford too many mistakes like that.

I will do, I'd totally sell the GP if I could but thats make my loan a full $8,000 and you need 20% of the loan down to get it plus payments for the same amount of years would be higher, and I honestly have no place to sell the GP, I do feel like its a low price but its close to the trade-in value off kbb and I realize trade-ins you always get screwed and I've accepted that this time.

One word of caution about tha Ford truck. The frames on all the Forf light duty trucks from 1996 and newer have weak frames. Look for dents at the back of the cab where the frame twisted and the bed came up and hit the back of the cab. This is NOT the truck you want to go four wheeling in. You will bend the frame. Do some Internet searching and I am sure you will see some horror stories.

I know the common problems I thought engine fires was another one, you take a chance with anything you get, and I will not be beating on this truck hauling light loads is the most beating I do with my trucks or going through some heavy snow

They took his truck to a local used car dealer/notary to have the paperwork done and he told my friend he'd give him $500 more than he paid for it right now. Jerk probably wanted to set it out on his lot for $10,000+.
