Default rust issues in the north

I see a lot of members complaining about rust problems,my monte sat in my front yard for a year without being touched and I haven't come across one single rust problem

im gueesing it must be worse up north on cars since its colder temps and more moisture? where im from we have high humidity but it doesn't seem to affect us like it does up north

ive seen trucks sit for years and years down here without having any rust

It's the salt on the roads that does it. Bit I've driven my monte last few winters and don't wash it to much during cold months and I have no rust anywhere

I live near Cleveland Ohio. And it's the road salt that destroys cars. As you drive, the salt does attack the body of the car and and because it's so cold it, hard to really clean the car.

Luckily, my Monte has been off salty roads since I bought her in '08. She has some battle damage in spots from the previous owner, but over all, not bad.

I don't see how yall wash cars in cold weather lol its gotta be atleast 75 degrees for me to do it lol,but I guess yall are use to it,we have a bad problem of getting sun damage down here, like cracked dashes or faded paint, ive actually seen tires get so hot in texas that they blow up from sitting in the sun for a few hours

In the winter time I use a rinseless car wash called Optimum no-rinse, and a bucket of warm water.

But like stated, the salt on the roads is really bad for the car. Think of it as the car being sand-blasted while you drive, all of the protective coatings are worn off, and then the rust just takes over.

I've been able to fend it off for the most part.. proper waxing and touchless car washes in the winter with the under-body spray will really do wonders.

down here (especially in west texas) dust is what kills are cars,my cousin has an 07 Silverado with a K&N filter and the dust just destroyed the engine, especially when your mix sand and mud it will cause everything to lock up under the car
