Default "Ricer"

I see the word thrown around alot on some of the forums I visit and honestly it bothers me. I mean where do we draw the line? I know in the literal sense that it's used too define a car of Asian manufacturing. Too me it's anyone (Muscle, Tuner, even Trucks) that talks up there car as being more than it is. I mean somethings such as having "VTECH" on a ford or a Supercharged sticker on a N/A car are not so much rice as much as ridiculous. But I see someone talk about a mod they want to make to there car and there's always someone that throws on the ricer tag. I'm a firm believer that a car should be as individual as you are but if someones getting shot down on mods all the time it can get a little discouraging. Too me if they aren't going around saying they can take on a ferrari then let em do it. But maybe I'm wrong I'm just kinda venting. What does everyone else think? What is YOUR take on the word "Ricer"?

I, personally, don't use the word. I let everyone customize their car to their own particular style.

I may think things are ugly looking. And, if I do, I'm more then happy to point out my opinion. But, to each their own, is my golden rule.

I think it's pretty stupid to put a V-TEC sticker on a non-V-TEC engine, but if it looks cool, then that's all that may matter to that person. Some people don't NEED to be fast. Some just like to be flashy. And, while it may look stupid to you...imagine what they're thinking while looking at a 'stock' M.C. without 20's and a drop. Or 26's and a lift..Some people would think you're crazy for spending thousands on a top swap that you 'can't even see'...

Some people like to look at their mods...Others like to feel them. It's a crazy world, with crazier people.

Since it's almost always used in a derogatory manner, I simply don't use it. Though I love American cars, over the years I've owned a variety of brands from all over the world. I enjoy seeing what others have done to modify / personalize their cars, no matter what brand or country of origin. The world would be a boring place if we all liked the exact same things.

I hear ya.

I got called a ricer once for saying I own a z34 because they thought I was calling my car a nissan Z.
I told them americans don't grow rice, we grow corn... so im a maizer.

I have a buddy that says someone is a ricer if their car doesn't look exactly like HE thinks it should. Ill voice my opinion, but I let it be known that it IS strictly MY opinion.

A stock civic that can outrun a ferarri= ricer
A stock civic that gets good gas mileage and wants more from a car= beginner

From the Urban Dictionary:

ricer

(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder

- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747

- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool

- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself

- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire

- Clear tail lights and corner signals

- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

ricer

When a moron (see: retard, dumbass) decides to take a car (foreign or domestic) and tries to make it look fast. The car will not really gain any hp or performance, but it will gain numerous stickers and yellow paint. It can be identified by one of the following:

1. The sound of a loud fart in a coffee can.

2. The yellow blob with a bookshelf on the trunk that is 1/4 mile behind real cars.

3. A Honda that has "performance mods" such as stickers, seat harnesses, and a fire extinguisher in full view (just in case the things catches on fire when it hits 40 mph).

4. A driver who claims his car has 100hp per liter but will not fess up to the fact that his car has a total of 43 ft/lbs of torque

ricer

any person who spends more money to make their car look like it goes fast than they spend on actually making it go fast.

Billy and Bobby both have 6000 to spend on their car. Billy invests it in suspension and engine work, and Bobby buys a "sick" body kit, and some "tight" rims. So, Billy has a fast car that will surprise anyone wanting to race it, and bobby is hitching a ride back home, because his "sick" body kit blocked all air to the engine.

Can you spot the ricer?

to me ricer means an owner of an asian-based import decides to treat his honda civic like a race car with the useless hood stick-ons and the home depot bench bolted to the trunk lid. one that is all show and no go.

to me ricer has nothing to do with any American or Euro-based cars. yeah it may have a wing that is completely useless, along with a silly body kit, but that is just ridiculous. not rice.
