Personally, I LOVE RICE , but I never did eat any in my Monte Carlo's

Sometimes, I don't understand what a lot of people do to their cars, but to me ~> it's their ride to do with what they want...I liked Mike's post & Urban definition...I use that site a lot to understand a lot of new words I find on the Web...

Thanks`Ryan for the Thread & soliciting member's opinions on "Ricer", & creating activity on the MCF..., but now I'm hungry again" anyone got a Xtra `Egg Roll

"Dinner Time"

Oh 'Space. You kill me dude.

But like 02ssle said some people like to look flashy. My ex girlfriend had a Hyundai Tiburon and she put every damn exterior mod on she could. I asked her one day if I could put a turbo in it so It would go as fast as it looked. Her respose: "Why? I'll never go that fast." She had a point. So I say too each there own too. If you can acknowledge that your car is not the next Veyron then we're cool. If you're like my neighbor who constantly tells me his stock 05 Cobalt SS can destroy vettes and what not then I don't care to talk to you. :p Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I don't count all the cars that have been "riced" as a joke. Like the many cars you see on the net with cardboard and masking tape wings/spoilers. Those were done just for the picture's sake, and a few laughs.

I always understood "ricer" as the first definition from Urban Dictionary. Below is a couple examples of what I understood it as. When it's done to an import, it's considered "rice". But it gets tricky when it's done on a domestic, or a car considered to be american.

When it's done to a north american, it gets labelled either as "ricer", or "red neck". I think it really depends on the model though. Smaller cars like the Cavalier, Ford Focus, Neon, etc, would get the "ricer" label. Larger cars like our W-bodies would tend to get a red neck label more than a ricer label. Especially Montes, with the whole Nascar thing.

A while ago, I accidentally found a forum that had taken my pictures from my cardomain page (back when you could still do that) and posted them in a thread. My car was determined by everyone on the site to be completely red neck. Yeah, I was thrilled.

Here's the types of mods that I always thought was considered "ricer"...

Ricer not withstanding, I belive mods are an extension of the person that owns the car. Another may look at your mod and say "boy that sucks" but so what? You are the one that owns the car and has to drive it. I don't like wheels over 20 inches on a car but guess what? I dont have to own it or drive it.

If we all moded alike this site would become pretty boring, looking at all Montes that have been cloned to look alike.

I don't really use that term - I just call them tuner cars which I'm not a big fan of. But still have respect for the people who own them.

Ricer:

One who has a fart pipe on an otherwise stock car, and thinks it's the fastest thing ever. This person also revs his/her engine unmercifully, for no reason, or to "show off" to other modded cars. This usually results in popping a piston, snapping a timing belt, and/or inevitably bending valves.

I feel alot of people use the word RICER because at one point in there life they had their *** handed to them by an import not knowing what was under the hood !!!!

Check this one out... looks like rice... sounds like rice... not quite as rice as one might think.

skyline vs ferrari - YouTube

Living in NY i see a lot of ricers these days. For the most part they truly are a bunch of kids that have very affordable and gas reliable cars, usually import and they purchase very inexpensive asthetically pleasing parts and custom paint jobs to the interior and exterior. Somemay be domestic however, i personally like the style of the newer chevy cobalts and even the ford focus. Its even hard for me to say my buddies cavaleir looks like rice simply because it reminds me of my old 96 monte all too much and well, you cant call a monte rice!

I believe a ricer aquires that name if his or her car may appear to have a small body and a small motor. I would be so happy to see my friends Hyundai accent have a sweet turbo installed on it and for him to turn it into a "sleeper". One of those oh look at that piece o' dirt, i can smoke it... Where there is no modification done to the body but under the hood is completely upgraded with even more then just a simple turbo! Thats cool to me.

The term ricer i believe is a personal thing and that normally the one who names a car or driver as a ricer doesnt seem to say the same about his own car.
