Onstar has partnered with a company called RelayRides, and you can now rent your onstar equipped vehicle without ever having to meet someone to exchange keys thanks to remote lock/unlock.
Personally letting total strangers use a car of mine doesn't sit well, as who knows what kind of abuse they could do to your poor car. But its interesting none the less what technology allows us to do these days.

Everyone knows that rental cars are beaten on un-mercifully. Burn outs, donuts, drifting, racing, etc. The renter doesn't care. It's not his/her car.
Nobody is renting any car of mine. Give me the keys to your house. Then you can rent my car. You abuse my car, I abuse your home.
Think about it though, onstar can track the vehicle activity. If the car is being abused, or goes over a certain speed they have the ability to shut it off as they do during police chases with onstar equipped vehicles.
As of now, I haven't heard of this being used in conjunction with relayrides, but in the future I could see it being in place using onstar or owner established definitions of abuse.

My car will do 140 MPH in about 20 seconds. How long would it take to disable the car? A lot more time than that, I'm sure.
