That 7.3 diesel was a tough motor my 99 had it & was abused & never quit even with its bigger turbo & all my performance add ons, but i doubt there new one will ever get close to 1,000,000 miles, ford diesels have lost reliability after the 7.3 but goes to show u take care of a vehicle itll last

I still want to get a 94-97 7.3 powered truck, those things are just tanks and last forever.

My dad had the same job, hauling Holiday Rambler trailers. He'd occasionally get to bring one west and visit. His truck? 77 Ford F250.

Me on the other hand, with a 99 Expedition, went through a puddle in an intersection and killed a coil. I remember looking that service writer in the eye and asking him if this is the same rugged SUV I see on TV swimming through rivers driving on rocks and such? Lol.

I'm going to look at a '77 F-150 tomorrow. I don't think you could kill the frame on an F-250, I would never believed how big those things were unless I had seen one for myself... good gracious. Those frames alone weigh as much as/more than some Toyotas.

Do you remember if your dad had the 429/460 big block engine or did he have the 351M-400 block?

Don't know at all. I was 18 and had just re-connected with him after 13 years. Truck had no problems hauling a fifth wheel up and over hiway 17 though.

We've had two different 7.3L at my house. Parents had a 99 F-350 dually and my brother currently drives an 00 F-250. Most likely getting one myself when I get a truck just because that motor is so nice. I plan on driving mine like I intend to hit that million mile mark myself though, unlike my brother who hits 5-6k rpm and blows smoke out the stacks everytime he accelerates
