My bad gang, I just realized I was supposed to post a link to the answer.Maybe I shoulda read the rules first.
This link title kinda tells you when thefirst Monte won in NASCAR. You have to read the race summary for more information to find the driver(s).

Ok lets go with a Nascar trivia thing again.
This Driver won the Daytona 500 the first time he ran the event.
P.S. Although Trevor Baine did it a few years back it is not him.
Give the Car Number, and Driver Name.![Thumbsup](https://montecarloforum.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
You get extra credit for additional details.

Where is our local MCF NASCAR expert "Cowboy" when we need him...
I honestly never follow NASCAR I'm clueless. I'm back from the time of AJ Foydt, Parnelli Jones, Richard Petty #43 (on a dirt 1/2 mile track, Ill. State fair 1971
Good luck to you others, good question here...

There is quite a Heroic story on how the driver got his shot at it. I saw him race once on dirt with a 71 Camaro, he was good. But I think he brought a better car than the rest of them.![Cool](https://montecarloforum.com/forum/images/smilies/cool.gif)
Keep trying you need to go back just a bit more.
In the mix I will tell you about my connection as well.
Good Luck

FYI, for those interested, Charlie Glotzback drove the first Monte Carlo to Victory Lane with the help of relief driver Raymond Hassler at Bristol, July 11, 1971. It was a caution free race!

Derrick Cope did win the 500 when Dale Earnhardt cut down a tire with about 1/2 mile to go. But that wasn't his maiden voyage on the 500.![Thumbsup](https://montecarloforum.com/forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
"This win was very Special" That same Car number has won at Daytona since that.
