New Sebastian Inlet surfing event stirs excitement
Sebastian Inlet to host young stars, legends of surfing
BY HILLARD GROSSMAN • FLORIDA TODAY • March 5, 2010
When the five-year reign of the popular Sebastian Inlet Pro surf contest ended this year because of a lack of a major sponsor, promoter Mitch Varnes came up with another idea.
Former Space Beach surfer Kid d`Space was once ranked high and won many contests at Sebastian, but retired at 18 . when he got a Monte Carlo... and had to work 7 nights a week : )

Surf Fest 2010, which begins Saturday at Sebastian Inlet and spans a nine-day window, features the nation's top young junior amateurs and pros, a collegiate competition and a peek into the sport's past, where some of the inlet's legendary surfers rekindle memories of 30 years ago.
"I think we made the most of a bad situation," laughed Varnes, who still has the backing of several previous major sponsors, such as Ron Jon and Red Bull.
"I think this is something very unique and something that has legs. We're not only embracing the youth, but also the masters."
The Prime America Series event, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, will be the first of its kind in the nation and will feature many members of the Pac Sun U.S. Surf Team.
Next week's $15,000 Junior Pro includes some of the world's top youngsters.
But it's the $12,000 Masters of Surfing contest, also next week, that will more closely resemble the world's best surfers at the familiar Sebastian Inlet Pro.
These guys are all still rippin'."

I did a photoshoot with my car in town a couple years ago.... here are the pictures of downtown Oxford.. I live about 5 miles north of all of this, just past the city limits sign a mile or so Slight rolling hills and farms dot the road, along with several houses.

I don't see a WalMart in sight? AS long as the neighbors didn't give a hoot about my fleet of '57s I'd live there in a second.
No real photos of my Monte "around town" but here's a link to the Dayton officail web site.

Couple shots of Carlo I took last fall @ a reserve.
