Default The Parties Over

Meaning now it's time to clean up the mess.

Well ladies & gentlemen my barn is now safe to occupy once again. The needed work was done today (FINALLY), the center beam was replaced along with the header for the overhead door. Got a new overhead plus a new service door.

So now it's clean up the mess created by moving 5 cars and bunches of boxes full of car parts.

I do believe when I junk my g/f's old car it'll be full of parts for an '83 Dodge Charger. The parts I pulled off my old car when I got rid of it a couple years ago. I had them stashed under the stairs andI can use this space to store the extra 235 6 cylinder engine I have.

But the repair work looks great and the barn roof isn't sagging anymore.

One problem that arose with the new overhead door. It's metal, the old door was wood. The wood was more able to "Bend" or fill the un-evenness of the concrete floor where the new metal door won't. So there's like a 1.5 inch gap right at the center of the new overhead that'll need some type of repair.

Oh well. That's the price you pay for having your own fleet of classic cars.

Congrats on having your barn back.

Sounds like it wasn't the wood door that was bending and filling the 1.5 inch gap. Sounds like the old header was sagging in the middle and filling the gap.

Good point on the header and it pushing down on the wood door.

Having space indoors to store my cars is great. Having to clean up the mess from the repais is not.

Clean up lady #1 does a super job of cleaning my cars for me.
Clean up ladies #2-10 (not pictured due to state of dress or UN-dress) are great helpers too. The ysay to tell Space, "Hurry up with your trip up north. We want to party with the Spaceman."

Space, if ANY of the beachbums resemble the ladies pictured, please extend an invitation to the great, white north next year.

Glad your barn is all better. My shop just got finished and now needs the concrete floor. Did a pole barn to keep the toys in.

A guy I work with told me he's getting ready to build a 30x90 building for his cars. He said the floor will have that radiant heat.

I would love to have that in my barn. It would be so much nicer when you lay on the floor in the winter and it's warm. Or warmer then it is outside.

I've heard that radiant floor heat can reduce your heating bill because you don't have to keep the thermostat as high as you do when you don't have the radiant floor heat.
