If there is one thing I am most proud of it's the fact that I never let my children have a computer game console in our house. Rather than having them while-away the hours twiddling fingers and thumbs ... I had them reading books instead.
They both have their Masters Degrees. They both have fine jobs in Education. And they both promised me they aren't going to let their children get involved in video games either.
I wish my brother had done the same for his kids. Unfortunately, they are addicted. Crying shame.

Hi `Rick,
You sound just like the way my grandfather raised/taught me.
No T.V. or Vid Games : (
Work or Books or Beach.
I'm slowly learning how right he was, I've challenged his
teachings, and still haven't been able to prove him wrong : ).
The Bum's & I have never had a video game, but we
love playing them at our friends home.
I know I would be addicted `if I had one : )
I rather be @ the beach surf'in/volleyball/beach football/
skateboarding/etc.
I like being outdoors. I was surprised to meet so many students
@ college that play vid's all the time..I've never had the luxury.
The MCF is my playground...Good thing it's `free : )
I can understand `Duane's -Cowboy's- competitiveness, and
wanting to win.I think I would be the same.
Rick, you must be very proud of your children.
You did `Good : )
Oh, I still want to get video games someday : )

RE: Okay.... WTF?!?!!?
I think it's sad that people stereotype video games that have no clue. I grew up playing video games and I have a bachelors degree (soon to work on my masters) and a job in a top fortune company. Why would you judge someones intelligence by their hobby? It's like saying "I'm glad I kept my children from playing sports or working on cars and made them read books instead so they would be smart".....I just have to disagree with your reasoning.
You'll always find acceptions. You sound like one of them.
I personally find T.V. boring and an insultto my intelligence. Now days it's even worse with all these reality shows being hammered in our brains.
I'd much rather be outside. Or working on my car. Or both. (outside at a car show) [sm=smiley20.gif]
The human body was never ment to vegitate. It was ment to move, to be used. Look at all of us on MCFs.

I like my net friends & family very much. But I like being out in the open better. Any of you want to come over and play at my house?

RE: Okay.... WTF?!?!!?
I don't think it has anything to do with being an acception, its a media stereotype and narrow thinking at its finest. The majority of my friends are gamers, one of my buddys has his Bachelors in computer science, another in architecture, and another in vct. Just about all the guys in my college dorm played video games and had lan parties so that kind blows that stereotype out right there.
Reality TV though....gag.

RE: Okay.... WTF?!?!!?
i didn't drive a chevy becasue they offered me 3 contracts... 2 Dodge teams and a Ford team, the Dodge team payed best
I wasn't really mad.. I know my post sounded that way. I just thoguht ti was wacked up that I was winning races and running halfway well, btu because fo hte game setup with the truck series and all i couldn't qualify for about 1/3 of the races, and that somehow hurts you... o'well. I finished halfway well though.
I like video games..... studies have even showed that they help your reflexes and hand eye cordination (only think they aren't good for: your *** [:-])

Yep. My kid is a crack shot. Just wait till he feels I've pissed him off and he uses this talent. With a real gun.
