It is priced a little high I think but its a OK car> I'm sure the rear end could be lowered back to a regular hight. I just cant get past the cloth interior. I thought all the ss/sc 's came with leather.

I don't think 04 had a Pace Car edition. But even if it did, the blue pace car edition was the 03 edition. It's obvious that it's someone's attempt at cloning the 03 pace car. WE know that. But not a lot of other people would know that. And I'm sure the seller is counting on some buyer's ignorance.

I've actually seen it happen here on the forum before. A member posted pictures of a fake 2002 Pace Car. A few months later, a new member joined up bragging about the great deal he got on an ultra rare 02 Pace Car. It was the exact same car. Buyer didn't take the news too well when the forum informed him he bought a fake.

Ouch. This is one reason I'm glad I joined the forum BEFORE I bought a Monte and did a little research, first.

Exactly. That's why it's always important to do a little research before buying any "collectible" or "rare" car. No matter what make or model it is.

Even buying a 4th gen Monte SS is risky. There's so many SS clones out there. You need to run the VIN number to know if some of them are real or not.

04 didn't have a pace car...
2000 - red/silver
2001 - black/silver (my dream one!)
2002 - yellow/silver
2003 - blue/silver

They didn't make anymore then that, or at least I've never ever seen one of heard of one. The only other pace car I know of is the 2006 Monte Carlo SS Pace Car that came in a variety of colors. I test drove this one when I lived in Pensacola, y'all might recognize it. The old member mouSe on here bought it the week that I drove it

Three black '01s on Ebay right now, which is rare, since I check Ebay for Montes pretty much daily. Two with low miles, one high miles.

Which is why GM has started making an effort to make it as difficult as possible to simply go to a dealership parts counter and buy certain parts that are only used on collector edition GM vehicles. GM won't supply the dealership with certain parts unless they supply info about who's buying it.

Of course, with the internet, there's ways around it. But at least GM is making the effort now. I'm sure other brands are (or will be) doing it too.

Realistically, I think that blue Monte in this thread was only done up like that because the owner thought the graphics looked cool. But as always, it's buyer beware out there!

First thing i noticed was the stripe doesnt fade. its just solid silver. Im not sure if the fade out stripe was on all the pace cars.
hmmm.
Lets just hope we dont have to tell a possible new member(If someone does buy the car and joins the forum) that his new "Pace car" is fake.
