They strapped to somewhere through the engine compartment; looks like the straps go down to the frame.

Yep, the white one looks to be a bit of a mess but at least it's visible. It's going to be like an archaeology dig for a few of those cars.

That one came out pretty cleaned too, but it will be interested to see what the rest look like now.

Wow, that is totally crazy what happened there, I wonder if there will be some kind of TV documentary on it someday?

I seen this all over the chevy instagram. It looked like the blue one had made it out with the least damage. Another one they oulled right out, started it up and drove it away no problem

I would imagine so, it was a major thing having a sink hole in a corvette museum.

That would be cool. I would imagine they will have something like this at some point. The Museum plans to display the cars as-is, as they are removed, now until August 3, then they're going to GM for restoration. The museum also plans to have a special display set up about the sinkhole incident and sinkholes in general.

Check page 3 of this thread, I've been posting picture and video updates on each car as they are removed. The blue one, the ZR1, was the first out and is the one they started up and began driving out. It made it about 20 feet before they noticed it started leaking oil so they shut it off.

Aaaand the 1 Mil, removed today. First lifted by one wheel into the center of the sinkhole, rested upside-down, then lifted by two wheels.

That one is still in great shape too. I'm sure there are more complex problems with it, but visually the only really damage is the front bumper and windshield assembly - not bad.

From here on in they will probably do more damage trying to get the cars out than the cars got falling in.

Damn, that ones a mess! I don't know how you restore that. I see about one reusable wheel - that is it!
