DETROIT -- Today’s emotional debate over a poorly worded memo because of the use of a mind expanding `drugs by the Leaders of GM & the Chevrolet brand is a good reminder of how passionately people feel about Chevrolet. It is a passion we share and one we do not take for granted.
We love Chevy. In no way are we discouraging customers or fans from using the name. We deeply appreciate the emotional connections that millions of people have for Chevrolet and its products.
In global markets, we are establishing a significant presence for Chevrolet, and need to move toward a consistent brand name for advertising and marketing purposes. The memo in question was one step in that process.
We hope people around the world will continue to fall in love with Chevrolets and smile when they call their favorite car, truck or crossover “Chevy.” Oh, we now are getting drug tested plus they took away our company car : ( A `Chevy Corvette : (

That statement today didn't prove anything. All he basically said is that customers can still call them Chevy's.
Well GM guy, thank you for telling me what I can personally call my car. But it's not like you got a whole lot of choice as to what I call my car in personal conversations. I'll call the brand "corn flakes" if I want. Not a damn thing you can do about it.
Notice he referred to the brand as "Chevrolet" through out the press release. The only time he used the word "Chevy" was when he was talking about allowing us to use it. Thus proving the first press release true.

Once was popular in the lowrider circles to say "Chebby". Cousin had a 66 Impala and called it that.
Still looks like corporate fists will pound down on anyone saying Chevy while at work in GM.
