What are they smoking at G.M?
On Tuesday, G.M. sent a memo to Chevrolet employees at its Detroit headquarters, promoting the importance of “consistency” for the brand, which was the nation’s best-selling line of cars and trucks for more than half a century after World War II.

At 29 seconds in this video, Dinah Shore says "Chevy"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGZvQoPxhNs
To that point, all Chevrolet (see, I got it right) ads said Chevrolet, no one thought about the term "Chevy," but Dinah Shore, while singing about seeing the USA in a Chevrolet, couldn't quite squeeze the whole word Chevrolet into the song and make it sound right, so she apparently decided to just say "Chevy." It stuck. (According to my dad, I can't find anything on the internet to back up or refute his claim, however.)

Well, in this now infamous Monte Carlo commercial with Dale Earnhardt Sr & Jr & Taz. The announcer clearly says at the end:
"Want to be like the Earnhardts? Then drive the Chevy Monte Carlo."

If you have a 2005 or newer model, notice the badging, it says "GM"
Not if you are like me... Mines says nothing. My car has no badging on it other than one SS in the front grill. So I own an SS lol....
