Nice choice and nice car! 71-72 are probably my favorite years of Chevelle. I like those black wheels on the SS's. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up.

The 71-72 Chevelles are probably my favorite.
That thing is sexy!

My advice, sell the 396 and 402 and get a good running 454.

Nice find! I assume it has a 12 bolt rear? What did you pay for it?

I sold my 71 SS a couple of months ago....

I can't do that. It's a numbers matching, all original car, basically. I believe the car was restored in '93 or '94. The VIN # has a "U" engine code showing it came with a 402 from the factory. I'd lose money on an engine swap. This is a numbers matching car, and I intend on keeping it that way.

And other than the black 5 spoke wheels that came on the '72's (which I have, shown in my pic's), here is a '71 that it will look like soon, hopefully:

I've got the details worked out to go get this car Friday afternoon. We're bringing it home on a trailer. More pics Friday night!

You can't beat a numbers matching car. There were far fewer 402 Chevelles than 454s. A 4-speed as a bonus? Very nice...

Going to work on cleaning under the hood, the trunk, and the interior this weekend.

But it's home and tucked in the barn for now.

I've got to work on the clutch and a top end noise. I think there is some lifter problems. I HATE the Summit valve covers. I'm going to replace them with stock orange ones and check out everything topside. I want the factory air cleaner on and working with the cowl induction hood. I might have to go back to the factory intake manifold to do that. No pro blemo.

Holy crap that is in good condition. I guess I have never been a giant fan of numbers matching cars. My cars are my cars though, I don't care about resale value.
