Default New Job - after a year off

I was laid off last August and enjoyed a years' severance. Started looking in January and becoming sadder and sadder with the prospects of finding a decent job in town.

The Monterey CA area is more of a tourist destination now, not much hands on work with a decent wage & benefits.

So out of town became a focus - found a job again at a cable company warehouse. I used to be management but now I am not - and I enjoy it. Work is at Charter Cable in Gilroy CA.

Commute is 70 miles round trip. A tank of gas in the Monte lasts about a week if I am sensible.

Ready to celebrate labor day - by taking the day off.

Hi `Barovelli, it's great to read a good new thread about getting a new `job 70 miles round trip isn't to bad + you enjoy driving + you own & drive a Monte Carlo with a decent sound system. Wish you good luck with your new position & don't have to worry about the pressures of management 4-Sure...
Thanks for posting & sharing...Wish you the best at your new `job & in life...

Congrats on the job. Charter is a pretty big employer in our area too. From what I hear they are a pretty good company to work for with a lot of advancement potential. Good luck

Thanks all. The company is as good as others when it comes to wages & benefits. The people have met so far are real nice. The customer service philosophy is a different twist than I am used to - refreshing that there is strong focus on keeping existing customers.

I used to put 900+ miles a week on the car when I worked for Comcast. And in super congested San Francisco freeway traffic. Don't miss it at all.
