New Job
So I officially start my new job tomorrow. I just got a call from my new boss giving me some info on who I'll be working with, where to park, all that fun stuff, and after he was done with that and we were about to hang up he goes; "Oh, I hope you don't have any plans for the next week or so, because you'll be working a lot of overtime helping clean up a big mess we've got." I found it kind of funny.
Anyways, here's the whole story: I used to work at a law firm in Downtown Cleveland doing IT work for them, since it was a larger firm they had quite a few computers and everything from the printers to the TVs were networked. Well, as they kept adding things I started to get behind. We were up to 120 computers (desktops in office and laptops for traveling), a few projectors in the meeting room, several copy machines and even more printers. To handle everything we're running 4 servers, that all have to be highly secured because of the confidential info. So all that said, I'm the only IT guy we have full time. Sometimes the head honcho brings in his buddy to help out if we have a bring project but he's a full time guy at another company and isn't always available. Also, my budget is very small, so I have to do a lot with a little.
Basically, I just got tired of working my a$$ off everyday for a "not nice" boss.
So a friend of mine tells me there's an opening at a company in Cuyahoga Falls. So I applied and low and behold, I'm hired.
So now I work for a company that provides computer services to schools.
It should be fun - so I will do tech things at the office and then I'm also assigned to one of the schools that we serve to troubleshoot any problems that the schools techs can't solve (and the school I'm assigned to is the same one I went to high school at).
But, looks like tomorrow I'll be hitting the ground running - apparently some issues occurred with the firewall the company puts all the schools behind so tomorrow we're going to start moving all the schools we run off the firewall and then we're going to reconfigure their entire network loop. OH BOY!!
(For those of you that understood the geeky stuff I was saying, I hope you enjoyed the story. For those of you that are technologically inclined, I don't know what to tell you )

Good luck. I used to work for a casino company with a lot of similar challenges as your old job. I started working for a IT services company and we use Kaseya for managing our workstations and servers. I'm dedicated to one client w/ about 180+ systems and the product makes it much easier (no, I'm not selling or reselling, I just wish I had this at my casino job). Once again, good luck with the new job! In todays economy, staying employed is a plus!
