Had too many issues with the 01' Monte Carlo SS I had if you all recall. I'd love to own another but not after all those issues I encountered.
I wouldn't mind a 00's Impala SS though :P

I am sorry. I didn't intend to sound rude or to make you feel that you are not welcome here. You are welcome. I am puzzled by your post. You say that you would only consider owning a GM if it is a Pontiac and that you want to dump your Mustang. I did see that you owned a Monte in the past but it sounds like you would not own another. The Gran Prix and the Monte are twins below the outer sheet metal so what ever you don't like about a Monte most likely exists in a Gran Prix. I own cars from all three of the big three and a Toyota. They are have their pros and cons.

I had to replace the 3800 N/A motor on my Monte, had a locked ignition cylinder, faulty a/c (worked when it wanted to), failing transmission, heated seats didn't work, I didn't like how stiff the seats were in the Monte Carlo either.

I've had problems with FoMoCo, GM, and haven't given Mopar a fair shot to be honest.

My philosophy though... how many 70s, 80s, and even 90s Mopars do you see compared to the same year FoMoCo and GM?

That's right, Gregg, I'm bashing your territory bud!

It's all cool Duane. Just remember if you dish it you have to be able to take it too. To be honest we have to research this. I don't have the time or energy to research these number so I will generalize. For every Mopar that Chrysler sold GM sold fifty and Ford sold twenty. So just because of the numbers there will always be more GM and Fords. I'm not sure that Chrysler should have ever been chacterized as one of the big three because they never sold the same volume of cars. Now being the resident NASCAR guru you will have to admit that when Chrysler was fully funded as they were in the sixties and early seventies both GM and Ford were always playing catch up. The only reason Richard Petty ever drove a Torino was because Plymouth wouldn't give him a Charger Daytona. The same holds true on the drag tracks all across the country during the same time period. Even today most of the top fuel dragsters still use a Chrysler designed big block hemi. When Chrysler comes up with something innovative General Motors and Ford usually play catch up. The last example was the minivan in 84. It is also the Mopars that bring the big dollars at the auction today.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I don't know you so I am going to make some assumptions and please don't take offense. I think you are setting yourself up for the same experience you had with your Monte. I think you are very young which would suggest that you want a fast car that looks cool. There is nothing wrong with that. I am going to assume that you don't make a lot of money so when you have a break down it is a huge issue. You are looking for a car that is almost fifteen years old as a daily driver. Because of its age it will be higher mileage and because it is supercharged it will have been used hard and probably beat on. If you are handy mechanically it is no big deal or as a second car as a toy. If you have to pay some one else to work on it then it will be expensive and you won't be happy.
