Back in 2003, my friend Jeff bought a 1989 Turbo Trans Am. GM made 1555 of these, they are replicas of the 1989 Indy Pace Car, using a Turbo Charged Buick engine that is almost the same as the one in the Grand National (it has some differences, such as it uses FWD 3.8l heads). Over the life of this vehicle with 46k miles on it, the engine was rebuilt, some mods added to support a bigger turbo and the trans has been replaced. Last night, he officially sold this car and reduced his fleet by one.
Below are some pics from last night and then some additional one from over the years.
Certainly a nice car. I came up with the idea of using gold paint in the valleys of the grooves on the top of the upper intake and the valve covers. Since the car was NOT all original anymore, a little added style was not bad.
