Default My Dream Car is Here!!! 1968 Torino GT!!!

Well guys ,there's been this car on Craigslist that I have been watching for a while... the guy came down to $2800 and I talked him down to $2500 for my dream car!!! A 1968 Ford Torino GT!!!!

The car has a rebuilt 429 out of a 1969 Ford Thunderbird with a C-6 (3 speed) automatic, on the column. The 390 engine that came with the car had spun a bearing and the previous owner sold it. But thats alright.. because this 429 should do the job nicely!!

The only part that we know of so far that will have to be rpelaced due to rust are teh back quarter fenders behind the rear tires and on the drivers side behind hte front wheel where water splashes up. Also, there is one part of the front support that will need to be replaced. But it's not a very big deal. The rest of the car just ahs minor surface rust. The back window is very solid, which all fastbacks were bad for rusting out back there.. the floor pan also has a whole in it in the front.

Here are the required pictures.... first, a few from late yesterday evening at the house we loaded it up at and brought it home from (my brothers pick up truck hooked up, damn Chevy truck blew the engine coming home from Florida a couple weeks ago)

A dent in the drivers side front fender...

And then some that I took this afternoon.

The interior...

And the dash...

WAY TO GO WAYNE!!!!

Now you're going to have to join the Furd web forums so you can hang out with the Furd guys.

Does this mean your Monte is up for sale now?

Wow. You certainly do have a lot of work ahead of you.
Looks like that Torino spent most of it's time out in the hot sun. The dash is toast. Even the steering wheel is ruined.

If the dash and steering wheel are that bad, I can imagine how dried out and brittle the wiring is. May want to invest in an entire new wire harness.

The car looks like a perfect candidate for the show "Overhaulin" with Chip Foose. That would be really cool if your car got "Foosed".

I think you're going to run into a lot of unexpected things that need to be done once you really start tearing into it. But when it's done, it'll be a great car to pass on from generation to generation.
