I had a chance to buy one in 1979. From the second owner for the sum of $100.
It needed a driver side front fender, and the top replaced. It had been setting since 1968 but I'm sure I could have gotten the engine to run.

A (suppose to be) good friend went over and bought the convertible out from under me.

He sold the continental kit off the car for $400.
He sold the engine/trans for another $400, I'm told.
And he sold the remainder of the body for $400.
So he made out on that deal.

And pissed me off in the process.
