Default My 1982 El Camino

Stock block @ .030" over = 406 CID
Stock crank w/ 5.7” I-beam rods
Kieth Black slugs (10.3:1 compression after deck work)
FULLY balanced rotating assy.
FULL Milodon oil windage system - tray, crank scrapper, etc.

World Products Sportsman II heads (2.02” / 1.60”, 64cc, straight plug)
Manley valves
Pete Jackson “noisy” gear drive
Crower solid cam
Crane lifters
Comp Cam push rods, valve springs
Harland Sharp 1.5 rockers
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, 750 Performer carb
Mallory HEI
MSD Soft Touch Rev Control (6200rpm chip for everyday, 7000 for when I want to have fun …)

Then we scavenged an entire serpentine belt mount/bracket system from a 1989 Chevy ½ ton pick-up … got sick of runnin' 3 belts & always throwing at least 1 around 6000rpm. (We run A/C, too)

As should have been easy to notice, other than the specialized machine work, Pop & I assembled everything ourselves, ... which is always the best feelin' in the world ... Some machine shop will never be able to torque a set of heads any better than anyone else, as long as everyone is using the same tools, etc.

All spinnin' a 2800-3000rpm stall converter on a TH-700R4 - (super tricked-out by Speedy Transmission here in Syracuse, NY, USA)

Stock rear end housing w/ Richmond 3.42s on an Auburn Gear posi-trac spool spinnin' Moser axles.

Do not know what more to add, but can answer anything thrown at me.

I will go dig out one of my other hard drives that I know I have a ton of other photos on ... That is if anyone is interested in anymore ...

That's probably the largest oil filter that I have ever seen. Very nice work.

That looks like an awesome build x2 on the oil filter.

Nice build up so far. I suppose if you're going to use a truck set up, you gotta use a truck oil filter.

I bought it in October 1991, 2 weeks after my 17th birthday ... my first car ... I was a senior in high school.

It was originally sold & spent the first 7 years of its life in Arizona, then the owner, for some reason, drove it to Central New York, & sold it to a twenty-something college kid.

He had it just shy of 2 years, having never driven it in the winter.

He graduated college, & wanted something more practical, & that is where I came into the picture.

I had always known I wanted an El Camino. I had always thought they were cool looking, etc., but a bigger thought in the forefront of my mind was that I NEVER wanted to be the one who loaded their car up with 4, 5, 6+ people, & just deal with all that that entailed. I always had liked the thought(s) of either just myself going out & about, or me & just one other person of my choice. Thus one of the earliest projects we undertook was to removed the bench seat, & find some buckets for it. It was not long before I got my hands on some from a 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix; had them reupholstered & mounted them. To further get my point across, I had a beautiful tonneau cover handmade & stitched for the bed of it, & a B&M MegaShifter installed.

Moreover, the "someone else & I" mindset has followed me all my life with my daily drivers, too, even throughout college. I have pretty much always had coupes Olds Cutlass, Pontiac Grand Am, etc. ... & right on into my previous vehicle, 1995 Monte LS, & now my '03 SS. I am 6'5" tall, & I after I roll the seat back all the way, there just is not much room left for anyone behind me ... I have a built-in excuse not to load a ton of peeps in ... & I like it that way.

As far as that oil filter goes, all it is is a 2-quart filter for a small block Chevy; not any bigger in circumference, but over twice in length.

Besides Napa (Gold line) manufacturing a part like this, K&N is the only other company I know of that makes these. At nearly $20 a shot, going through 2 of these a summer (plus oil) gets somewhat expensive, but having the additional full quart of oil in the engine is something I will always gravitate towards.

... Been looking for an "extra capacity" filter for the Monte Carlo, but have come up Snake Eyes at every turn ... ... ... ...
