All right, we're now in the final four months of the year -- one third of 2018 remains.
(For the latest weather reports from Detroit, just tune in to W06M.)

Well, my Pace Car Monte gave me an unpleasant surprise a few nights ago when I got back in it after a quick grocery store stop, and it refused to start and completely died. No lights, no sounds, no warning, nothing!

Everything looked okay, and the battery terminals were still tight; but two different jumpstart attempts were made, and both failed. After a while, a mechanic friend I know came over to the store parking lot with some equipment, and succeeded somehow in restoring the connection since the battery still tested good. So the Z34 started right up, and we drove it to his place for a charge-up and a closer inspection. Turned out the positive terminal had built up a lot of corrosion inside, so he cleaned it all out, and I'm happy again.
No tow truck necessary, no battery replacement or anything else either!

Just gotta keep an eye on those sneaky little battery terminals, I guess.

Yep, a similar instance happened on a 4th Gen Monte I owned once and after I clean out the side terms the thing was back good again. I put a new battery in the Monte last month and cleaned it all up and it should be good for a bit, Menards had AC Delco batteries on sale and I got a new one. The old one was 5 years old and had a bulge in it. Didn't want to get stranded.

Smile Labor day weekend is almost over

Well Labor day is near over. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I am including the new Photo themes for September. Make sure you find the October and November themes in the Off topic section and give it a try.

September Photo contest themes
(got 3 again) Something you can be on the lookout for.
#1 Back Alleys Careful on this one! but every one knows of a back alley someplace to take a photo.
#2 Inside looking out Your in your car taking a photo of any subject you want. Could be a pretty girl, another car. Moving or standing still. Remember to show something in the photo so you can see it was in the car.
#3 Fences and Gates This can be any fence or Gate that is cool for a subject wood, iron, brick, old, new but there is probably a fun spot out there for that.

Good morning guys. Going up into the mid-90s today. Couple days of heat and then Thursday highs will drop down into the low 70s.

Had a very nice Labor Day weekend! Got some work done around the house, went kayaking Sunday and took the boat out yesterday.

And I ended up taking a 'Top-40' award at the show in Durand on Saturday! That included being in the 'Top-4' of '1987 and Newer'. Total surprise, I wasn't expecting it in the slightest, roughly 270 cars there. Nice day and a cool show with six blocks of Durand's main street lined with cars on both sides. Met up with a few MMCC members there including the 71 next to me. I did get hammered with storms on the way home - there was times I couldn't see 50 ft ahead of me.

Good evening everyone, congrats Matt on the top 40 wiin Just winding down for the summer here and getting ready for the fall leaves and spending some quality time on the lake and in the woods. My Monte has started to show me one of the weak parts as the torque converter is starting to rattle under acceleration. Now in situation of deciding of what kind of stall I will need. Kinda screws up a few plans as I was invited by one of the members to make a car show with them and I was in process of getting permission to take some pictures for this months contest.

Guten morgen jungs.

Gettin' in the Bavarian spirit! Wife and I are heading up to Frankenmuth tomorrow for the 35th An. Frankenmuth AutoFest. Three day event and roughly 2,500 cars. This show is 1987 and older so we'll be spectating, not participating. Tonight is their 'big block party', one mile along Main St for show cars. Might participate next year - that's the only hint I'm dropping right now

Good morning everyone, just hanging out this week as work has slowed down, Gives me some time to catch up on some things before the cold set's in and the snow starts flying. Even though it's nice here I really hope the people on the east coast take the warning and find a safe place to avoid the storm bearing down on them. Remembering today for all we lost and for those who put there lives on the line to help others.

A few years ago we took a trip to the east coast, Boston on up to Maine and it was a fall tour to look at the foliage, our Bus driver told us about his being a NY bus driver and he kept going back to retrieve stranded people from when the towers fell down. At one time his bus was so full it blew the inside duals on the rear of the bus. He still had 6 tires good yet, but it was sketchy he said.
I also worked with several people who today have a cough from being in the city from that day.
I hate to see this stuff again it just makes me mad again.
