Do I wish my monte had some more horses? YES, but I don't do too bad out there though. I have a heavy foot and after the light turns green I punch it, outside of some big a$$ SUV a lot of folks are in my back window. But it does **** me off when I see some small crap looking car putting out more hp. In reality I don't have the money to get more horses out of my car. Now that I'm content with that I'm just gonna start saving for my next Chevy and I want close to 400hp

WELL. I stand corrected. Thanks for the correction. Now I can go correct AutoZone for telling me something different!

Well then I'd say the non supercharged 3800 guys are just screwed... You're right.

For example, I had a litttle bout with a 2007 niassan 350z the other day, and he blew me outta the water, of course. I have the bigger engine, but his ride has a 3.5l pushing 300hp.
Nissan 350Z $35,000+ your monte $20-25K, and close to 800-lbs heavier.

I have a V8 in my 2006 Monte SS, and I eat Mustang GTs alive! as well as Charger R/Ts and many, many more. But I don't roll up to a Charger SRT and rev my motor. I know without a doubt he can eat me alive and why bother.

For a long, long time GM "watered down" the power of their engines. I've been told, for the sake of fuel economy. It's painfully obvious what foreign auto companies can do with engines with the same displacement as GM. Yes, the Monte is a bigger, heavier car than most import tuners and sports cars. But only 200 hp from a 3.8 is insane. Most imports can get 200 hp from a four banger.

GM lost so many customers because of their "fuel economy over power" philosophy. It's only been in the past couple years they finally did something about it. The Colbalt SS was a good start atseriously competing inthe sub-compact tuner market. But they still have a long way to go with the rest of their line-up.

To be honest, an srt8 only runs a 13.5. And there are not alot of performance upgrades available for the srt8, because it is a daimler exclusive.

So next time, give it a shot :-)

I read somewhere the n/a Monte is 3,600#, and the s/c is 3,750#, dry.
Our new Solstice GXP is a 2.0L turbo, 260/260, and 2950#
As for the 3.8, it is a PROVEN motor for longevity. With those hp#'s, the tuners will NEVER see 250,000, 300,000, or even 400,000 miles.

altho im not happy with the small hp i am really liking the gasmilage right now...for the past week ive been driving the truck due to bad weather and my battery goin bad and let me tell u it costs me over twice with the truck as it does with the monte...its almost $85 to drive the truck for a week vs the $40 a week with my monte...but ill supercharge it again neways lol and like everyone has been saying its not hard to put a few extra horses under the hood for relatively cheap
