Montecarlo=big v6+small hp

Is anyone else tired of having decent sized displacement (3.8l) for a v6 and such little hp. Personally, I m getting tired of getting blown out by those foreign cars with smaller engines with lost more hp! For example, I had a litttle bout with a 2007 niassan 350z the other day, and he blew me outta the water, of course. I have the bigger engine, but his ride has a 3.5l pushing 300hp. I know the 3800 is an older-less efficient powerplant, so this is just a rant of mine. Anyone else disheartened my this current trend!?

it must have been turboed for htat kind of power... i haven't had much trouble holding my own myself though. just remember, if you ahd a 500 hp corvette, somebody wuld be faster... there will ALWAYS be a faster car....

It wasnt turbo'd. The new 3.5 puts out that much, 306hp!

its the technology, you have a pushrod engine...

the caddy and nissan are both direct injected, DOHC, with variable valve timing

I don't think I'd ever complain about the 3800 engine... there are so many companies out there making them faster than v8's, etc, that it really isn't that expensive to make the 3800 faster. Alot of mechanics call the 3800 the "tuner" of gm... because they are nearly impossible to blowup, and they are cheaply upgraded...

ALSO, here is something else to consider. Our monte's weigh 4,520 pounds.

A nissan 350z? 3,300.

Reviews are made before GM is complete with the line. Go look on the side of your drivers door of your car. 2042kg, or 4,502.

Oops, sorry. Meant 4502, not 4520

thats GVRW, gross vehicle rated weight

A gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is the maximum allowable total weight of a road vehicle or trailer that is loaded, including the weight of the vehicle itself plus fuel, passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight.
