The common line of thought with the investigators is that in his mind he 'destroyed the evidence'. The court had ordered that he have a psychosexual evaluation done and submit to a polygraph test. Without a doubt questions about the disappearance of his wife would have been asked. One of the children drew a picture of a vehicle. The child stated that it was his dad, him and his brother in the front seat and Mommy was in the trunk. Between the results of the court findings and the testimony of the children there's little doubt he would not have been convicted for the murder of his wife. Rather than facing what he had done the coward killed himself and took the lives of two innocent children with him. On a side note the coward's father has been sitting in jail for a couple of months now facing charges including pornography. It's believed that the coward knew about his father's twisted sexual preference and was a willing participant. One of the investigators stated that some are looking at this as a tragedy, but it is not. A tragedy is when a plane falls out of the sky and people die. This was a cold blooded calculated and premeditated double homicide and Josh Powell should be remembered as being a murderer, not the victim of a tradegy. I couldn't agree more...
