I knew a guy who had a similar situation with his car. His car sat behind the building for almost a year before the owner finally just asked for his car back. By the time he got it home off the tow truck, rodents had destroyed his wire harness and all the rubber rotted out (hoses, belts, tires). Plus the rodents got into the interior of the car and destroyed the interior. The car sat in his driveway for another few months before he reluctantly decided that the car now needed a complete restoration. And would cost more money than he could afford. And more than the car was worth when you include labor for the stuff he couldn't do on his own. Plus storage fees to store the car somewhere inside, since he didn't have a garage.
He sold the car as is, and took a huge loss.
