RE: might be home after all
Dont get me wrong
I dont knock the sup's down,
matter a fact im working on moving up,
Its like everything else it has its good points and bad points
If I move up, I will have to pay for health care, where as right now I dont have to....
but then again our Union is stronger then the drivers Union.
Right now if I move up I have to driver 40 plus miles up the road
which I now only work 2 miles from home
Work 50 plus hours a week
which now I work only 40 hours (we dont put that much overtime in)
I have a fleet of 40 trucks that I take care of. Best thing is that they dont talk back to me......
I think UPS is a better good company to work for (depends on the managment staff).
Best part of the job if I dont like where I am at this year I can bid on another location every Jan.

i looked in to UPS. but the big brown santa shop around here said 2 years of loading trucks before i even thought about gettign in to a truck.
Im sorry im to damed old to even think of loading trucks for the next two years.
i also checked in to yellow but i hate dealing with the drivers they have and i know now not sure i want to go drive for them lol
Besides this one i dont have dubbels or trippels to worry about just one live bottom traler. witch it easy enough. basically just pull up hit the PTO and wait for them to wave me off.
and at teh end of the day have to rinse it out.
So not to tuff.
but the whole A/C thing has to be the biggest shell shcok fo rme . in the other construction job we didnt have it in our trucks and if we did they didnt want us to use it because it cost more in fule. lol that was when it was still only 1.00-150 for fule lol
bet they are having a fit right now at almost 4.00 a gal for it.

2002 DOT made it a reg that all big trucks must have a/c in them.
Meaning any truck made after Feb 2002 must have a/c
You do not have to install a/c in older trucks.
And if the a/c stops working it does not mean you down the truck to have it repaired
Its like ABS brakes, If the ABS light comes on, it does not down the truck,
you still have 100 braking. You just will not have the ABS side of it.
Good luck Mickey are what ever you do

Mrrench,
If my benefits aren't better then someone's not telling me the truth?
I've been told several times by doctors or other health care places, "Your benefits are better then other employees."
Like for instance I needed some dental work done. And the lady at the dentist office oltd me I'll have to pay out X amount for the work as my portion. I told her to check my benfits. She came back and said she was surprised I had better coverage.
You're right there's good & bad with everything. That's true of any job.
For some reason the insurance componay changed my benefits back in january. And they were nice enough to forget to tell me about it till I was trying to have a couple prescriptions re-filled and found out I didn't have any coverage.
But when I asked them and UPS, no one could tell me why my coverage changed or how? All I got was the run around from everyone.
And thanks for the compliment on my signature pic.
Mickey,
I know of people who went into driving in a short amount of time. Having a current CDL is a plus for anyone considering driving. Yes it usually takes a few years to get a worker behind the wheel but it's not written in stone.
