Merry Christmas To Me

Merry Christmas To Me
Well being one of those who had to get out of their nice, warm bed this morning and go to work I reluctantly did.
On the way home this morning the transmission went out of my car.

There goes the Christmas money I got. [sm=boohoo.gif]
I just hope it's nothing serious like the transmission needs rebuilt cause it already got rebuilt one week after I bought the car.

Was it your Dodge ?
Does your tranmission stick smell burned ?
What's the fluid level indicate ?
I also hope it's something minor, & that it's just
a cable or module or something inexpensive.
Let us know....Good Luck
Zhit happens, but why does it always happen to
the nice guys : )
Don't let it get you down.....It will get better...keep the faith...

RE: Merry Christmas To Me
Hi Space,
Yep it's my '94 Dodge Shadow ES. I bought the car in 2001 a couple months after I got hit head on, on Nov 29, 2000.
One week after buying the car the transmission went out on it and I had to have it rebuilt. The seller refused to help me. He knew the trans was bad in car when he sold it to me.
I hope it's nothing more then the filter needs replaced.
So much for working on '57 #6 like I'd planned.

I'm sure there's many thatwould trade you problems.Good Luck `RJ, Keep us informed on the prognosis, and what you have to do to fix `it.`Space

RE: Merry Christmas To Me
You'd ask if the trans fluid was blackened or had an oder... no.
I don't hammer on my car(s).
The guy at the trans shop looked at the fluid and said it seemed to be okay.

I've definitely been there too. (on a previous car). Found the infamous metal shavings of death in the trans fluid.
I know it was bound to happen sooner or later, just sorry it had to happen to you at a horrible time.

RE: Merry Christmas To Me
I know when the torque converter went on my '86 LS you could see shaving on the end of the dip stick.
The Shadow, the dip stick is clean andthe fluid was nice & red with no oder. So maybe that's a few things in my favor?

RE: Merry Christmas To Me
First call from transmission shop.
"Well we pulled the pan. Put a new filter & fluid in. It drives okay now. But we "Think" the stuff clogging the filter was the lining off the torque converter?"
So I asked them, do you think it needs a new converter?
"Oh it probably wouldn't hurt if you're going to keep the car."
Secondcall from trans shop.
"A new converter + the work already done...... $625.00"
So looks like the '57 money is going for a new torque converter in my '94 Shadow?
