Well the guy at the repair shop found some problems. Water pump is leaking bad and there is a leak coming from the intake manifold gasket. They want a $1000.00 to fix it. Picking it up in the morning and a buddy of mine is going to do it with me. It is going to cost me $100.00. We will see if there are a few other issues we can clean up while in there. Anyone have any advice of things to replace while I have the intake manifold pulled off?

 

I had to Google PGR because I couldn't remember whether I had heard of your organization in a good or bad light. Thank you for what you do too.

Todd, nothing i can think of to replace while you have the intake off, except a new carb intake, carb, vac advance dist, :P but in all seriousness if your replacing the water pump i'd pull off the timing chain cover and check that out, see if there is much slack, maybe replace it just becuase, there cheap and a dual chain is always better that one, more reliable and stronger

Justin, good advice on the timing chain. I had not thought about that. How hard is it to set the timing if you replace the chain? My motor is T.B.I. also.

Yeah when i did the search for it i put in 89 burban 350 tbi, and i got that, the timing chain doesn't change between the carbed and TBI
it's not hard to replace here is my write up i just made for you!

First: find break lose/remove dampener bolt, use puller to remove from crank
Second: Remove timing chain cover
Third:brake lose cam sprocket bolts but do not remove
Fourth: Locate Dot on Crank sprocket and cam sprocked
Fifth:Reinstall Crank boltand tuen over motor to line up the dots (crank sprocket dot will be at the top, cam sprocket dot will be at the botom)
Sixth: remove crank bolt and cam bolt (be sure not to lose dot alighnment,
seventh: pull Cam & crank spockets &chain off,
Eighth: grab your new chain and sprockets, put your new crank sproket on (it is keyed), you will need to tap it on to make sure it's snug (i like to use a peice of wood with a hole cut in it thays big enought to fit over the crank,but not the sproket)
Nineth: put your chain on your cam sprocket slide it onto the crank gear and make sure your dots line up, and put your bolt in on the cam, tighten the bolts up

Tenth: now it's just putting everything back together
