Nice pics taz.
The mechanic called the yard on a warranty, they said rev the engine to 2500 rpm and hold it for 5 mins... he held it knocking like crazy for 6, then let off the gas and she died. They are covering the engine and instlling the new one... no new gaskets or anything this time.

morning everyone! just setting here enjoying some homaid blueberry muffins my co-workers 75 year old mother made they were gooooood!
i'm also possibly buying myself another car.... a 95% restored '65 buick electra 225 4 door hardtop... for $1200... from what i've been told the car's got over $30,000 into the resto, basiclly needs the engine re-assembeled from being rebuilt and dropped into the car. kinda a boatmobile but for that price it's growing on me
also had an interesting commute home this morning, route 209 is closed 'caus the delaware is across the road in a couple of spots, so i had to run about 10 miles out of my way to get around. road was washed out in a couple of spots, i was damn glad to have the truck today!

Updated the eleanors new engine thread... so to keep from thread hijacking the daily blog any more than I have.
I watched my mechanic (asper request of junkyard) run the engine at 2500rpm for 5 mins and blow the engine... it died, when the parts inspector came, he had us try to start her and she fired right up, still knocking and scraping but restored my faith in the 3800 that it would re start and idle on her own with a blown engine

Ryan - The old Buick Electra could be a cool old car! Nice find.
And the roads around here have also been washed out due to all the rain. I just heard that some poor fool (I feel sorry for his family) got washed away in his car and drowned because he drove around the barricades set up to keep people away from the flooded road. Sad, stupid way to die.

Ryan, the 65 Buick Electra sounds like a great project. It's nice to see people restoring old cars instead of sending them to the scrap heap.
Augi, I remember GM used to have a great reputation for their engines. They were hard to kill. Obviously that all changed in the 80's. But it's nice to see the 3800 engine somewhat living up to the old GM reputation.
Hopefully your engine problems will be over soon!
