Ouch! I flew through Dallas twice over the past 2 weeks. Glad I stayed home this week. A friend of mine has been stranded at DFW for the past couple days on his way to Ft. Sill, OK.

Having grown up in MI but now living in the south, I know what you mean about people freaking out. In addition to not being able to drive, folks here flock to grocery stores and buy out everything in sight. It's like they're preparing for the Ice Age. Kinda funny.

Good noon all! I hope everyone is enjoying their lunch in this arctic weather. Engine is coming along slowly 'cause my back/hip are acting up(the weather) but should have it done today.
Some pics of the build

I'll have more later on today once I'm done.

Hey Dave, Arizona sound pretty god about now, doesn't it?
Btw, anyone living in Arizona? I'm seriously thinking about moving there and would like some details about it, if it's not too much trouble. I googled but I rather hear it from the "horse's mouth", so to speak! lol.

Just about ready to head out the door. I'll be taking a pre-employment test and hope to pass it.

Wish me luck.

I don't know... My Mom is just south of Tucson. I heard they had temp's in the teens yesterday. Seems there is no escaping the Big Storm this time.

My family and I spent 3 years at Ft. Huachuca, about 60 miles SE of Tucson. High desert is beautiful in my opinion. Not for everyone, but we loved it. And we both grew up around water (MI and FL). Give me a buzz on my cell if you have specific questions; I'd be glad to talk to you about it.

I do- moved out here at the beginning of '10 up by the Paradise Valley/ Northern Scottsdale area- and now I live about 20 minutes south of Phoenix (close to the casinos and drag strip though ).

What kinda details are you looking for? If you can be more specific about what you're curious about, I could probably help answer most questions. More specifically- what part are you looking to go to? IMO, the areas up north like Flagstaff and up are 100% different environment wise than downtown Phoenix, etc.

If you're thinking about Phoenix or any of its suburbs- here is my quick rundown from what I've seen over the last year:
-nice, dry weather- if you don't mind the heat in the middle of the summer. It's sunny almost every day, and the bulk of the year is gorgeous (with the exception of mid-summer days, and mid-winter nights)
-lots of cheap housing: you can get into almost any size house you want if you don't mind being in a less popular area. If you want to move to one of the more ritzy, and popular areas- you can still get a good deal on a house- but you'll just pay more, and it won't be a new or nearly new house. The housing market has tanked heavily in the whole area, so there are good deals to be had all over if you have the money to buy now. We got a huge, nearly brand new house for less than what an old, tiny, entry level house was going for back in IN.
-lots of unemployment- between some major manufacturing going overseas, and all the construction jobs drying up- there are a lot of unemployed people- which can make getting a job difficult if you don't have something lined up already. Competition for good jobs is pretty fierce.
-not a lot of major tourist stuff to do in the city, but there is plenty in reasonable driving distance (ie Grand Canyon, Vegas, Mexico, San Diego/LA, etc).

If you have more specific questions, post up - or PM me.
