Im looking for the snow! I got the oil changed in the 3 wheelers and tanks full of gas. Im getting alot of rain here and may have to go north if the weather dont change. Its a bummer to see places not to far from here getting hit with the fun.
|
it's still pouring down rain here. i'm still betting i'm going to have to defrost my doors before i go to work today. michael, now you know what i had to deal with saturday night, i yanked on that door until i was physically out of strength. Had to have security muscle their way into my car or else i was SOL and calling triple a. With my luck they'd show up with an ice pick....
Next time I'm gonna see if I can crawl thru the trunk. |

Thousands gathered at Waimea beach to watch the world's top surfers rocket down waves 30 feet high. Some arrived at 4 a.m. for a good spot, while others camped out all night. Popularly known as "The Eddie," the competition is held only when waves top 20 feet in Waimea Bay. This is only the eighth time the conditions have been right since the event was founded in 1984. Many of the 28 competitors were professional surfers, including Kelly Slater, Bruce Irons and Sunny Garcia. All were experienced big-wave riders. Entrants were selected by a poll of surfers. "We want guys who can't wait to pull themselves over the ledge and drop into a 25-foot wave," said Bob McKnight, president of Quiksilver, the event's sponsor. He was at a meeting in 1984 that led to the founding of the event. The contest is held in honor of Eddie Aikau, a legendary Hawaiian surfer, Waimea Bay lifeguard and waterman. Aikau died in 1978 at the age of 31 when the traditional Hawaiian voyaging canoe he was on capsized en route from Hawaii to Tahiti. Aikau paddled on his surfboard toward Hawaii's Lanai island, 19 miles away, to get help, but never returned. The rest of the crew was rescued soon after. Clyde Aikau, Eddie's brother and 1987 winner of "The Eddie," is competing at age 60. He said his family was humbled by the contest. "It's always cool to surf for Eddie," Clyde Aikau said in a television interview Tuesday after riding a wave. "Hawaiians call it chicken-skin to have so much support for Eddie over all these years," he said, using the local slang for goose bumps. "It's a tremendous feeling." The winner, Greg Long of San Clemente, Calif., took home $55,000, while the total purse was $98,000. Long, 24, edged ahead of his childhood idol Slater with a score of 323. Slater, 37, placed second with 313. "I'm humbled to be even in this event," said Long, noting he had posters of his competitors on his walls growing up. "To be recognized amongst them on the invitee list was a dream come true for me." Kauai-born Sunny Garcia placed third. The National Weather Service forecast 30- to 40-foot waves, with some sets approaching 50 feet on the outer reefs as Hawaii remained under a high surf warning. The high surf was caused by two large storms northwest of Hawaii. The storms were expected to send significant -- but smaller -- waves to the West Coast of the U.S. mainland Wednesday and Thursday, said Jonathan Hoag, a National Weather Service forecaster in Honolulu EnJoy your `Present ~> Your Now -Now-:) http://images.ibsys.com/sh/sponsors/...242009-683.jpg |

GET BETTER 4 us! Space, ya got me thinking (smell something burning?) Can you see the shuttles and other rockets go up from your place? Have U ever thought about employment there, or tried??? Also, have you or any of the Bums ever been in any surfing competitions? Grandpa? Morning everyone else, We got about 3" of snow overnight.......then it rained. About 3/4" of slush out there. Looks like it went JUST north of us. WHEW! Thank you Lord for that! |

Space, ya got me thinking (smell something burning?) Can you see the shuttles and other rockets go up from your place? Have U ever thought about employment there, or tried??? Also, have you or any of the Bums ever been in any surfing competitions? Grandpa? Yes, we can see the Shuttle Launch from our area. I never get tired of seeing in amazement each time there is a launch : ) We luv `it 4-Sure. Thoughts of Employment ? Yes, but it's not stable and presently several top people are being cut due to budget cuts :( We know several people that work @ NASA & the Space Center. Not secure employment @ present : ( The bum's & I were in contest in our early teens, but because we were always work'in we could not make many of the event's @ Sebastian Inlet or @ RonJon's in Cocoa Beach... We have more fun just hitt'in the waves when we have time : ), but it seems the older we become, the less time we have to `play :( My grandfather was a long board `champ : ) He hasn't surfed this year due 2 his stroke :( He still loves the beach & the ocean is his home.... He misses being the Captain of his vessel. Hope I answered your  Thanks 4 ask'in Peace/Out |
Good Morning MCF!
Hows Everyone doing? I hope well... For all of you who are sick right now, I hope you get better soon! Take care of yourself! Well, Tuesday is over, which means I have no school till next Wednesday, when I will present my FINAL project for my last Business Marketing class. In the next week I have to actually get the project done though, so it should be a fun week...NOT. LOL. I've always hated group projects, and this one is no exception. I always get stuck doing at least 50% of the work, while the other 3 people divide up the other 50% between the 3 of them. :( The challenge with my current group is nobody seems to ever be available to work on the damn thing...I've heard: I have work, I have other projects, I have to study for finals...Yea, ok, what is your point, so do I, but we all still need to do this project whether you like it or not....GEEZ! Anyway, end of rant...haha Hope everyone has a great Wednesday! :) |

Todd, -8!:eek: OMG, that is COLD!
It is 31 degrees here...at least it didnt rain last night, so my door was not iced shut. LOL. I did have frost on the windows... The last two mornings when I left my house, the Monte has popped up with a message for me in the dash: "ICE POSSIBLE DRIVE WITH CARE" I think in my whole time of owning this car, i've scene that message maybe 8 times, including the last two days. hahaha |

morning, everyone. they called off school today, probibly 5 ish inches of snow in the ground, and its been raining scince about 7:30 ish, so its all nasty slopy slush. only benifit is that it cleared the roads off ok... till it freezes tonight.
oh, justin. it could be worse. remember my kwanza hut? well.... between the snow & rain, its now more like a kwanza pile, haha. im glad the monte was not in there, and before RJ comes on let me say the '57 held its own very well. not a dent or additional scrach on her. heck, even the motercycles stayed upright, and all 3 bikes and about 3/4 of the '57 are still covered.... so SCREW IT, the hut, er pile can stay just like it is till things melt back :) |
That sucks ryan... i think it might have just blown away here we have gust 31+mph and it's worse becuase there r no tree's by the monte so acts like a tunel
|
actually i was kinda surprised it had'int blown away. we've had some winds like you over the last month or so, i was sure it was gonna up & go a few times. but no. i guess 'caus they are designed so that the wind can kinda go through them. but 1 heavy snow and SPLAT no more shelter, lol. at least now i have a bunch of nice tarps :) mabe over the summer i'll build a frame outta 4x4 timber and streach the roof & walls around that sucker :)
|
Hi all.
I'm sick, took the day off. Going to go to bed. Sorry I won't be around today. -Mike |
Hope you feel better Mike! That sucks! At least you called in today so you can rest.
|
I want to go surfing space, and Ive supported tire rack dont worry. But anyway, I woke up this morning, about 8 inches of fluffy snow, 4, on the once scooped driveway. I wanna take pics of my car sooooo bad but its dusty :(
|
Kinda a funny email I got.
A winter statistic 98% OF AMERICANS SAY 'OH ****' BEFORE GOING IN THE DITCH ON A SLIPPERY ROAD. THE OTHER 2% ARE FROM NEBRASKA AND THEY SAY, 'HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS.' |
when i was driving home from work tonight i was behind a car with the license plate that had HEDNIST on it??? ok!
no snow here yet, just high winds and rain, tomorrow i think, is gonna be a challenge, with falling temps and some snow!! the power went out at work today and we have absolutely no back-up lights, it was freaking dark, kinda like a cave, sucked and the pc's got all screwed up!! also, mike, i hope you start feeling better and everyone else for that matter, take care!! |
