Good Morning Everyone!

Well I got to bed earlier last night, so I got a solid 6hrs of sleep. Not tons of sleep for me, but WAY better than the 3-4hrs I got the previous three nights. LOL So I feel much more awake today than yesterday.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning Space...My Dad is doing great all things considered, thanks for asking. He went on a nice big walk, and spent most of the day laying down with pillows under his legs. But he gets up and walks every chance he gets. He refuses to take any pain meds, but he said it does hurt a little, but its tolerable. He told me yesterday, he is definitely going back to work next Wednesday, He will just have to get up and walk around a lot. He is happy to be home though, and have the freedom to eat what/ when he wants, walk around, and choose from many more channels. LOL

I'm glad to hear you ONLY worked 8 hrs. It just blows my mind how much you work Space, and how often you DON'T get a day off. As you would say, giving up to get. LOL

Have a great day!

I just rememberd this. I was gonna post this yesterday morning as soon as I got back from seeing it but, I went to the gas station before I took my wife to work to get whatever and talk with the people who work there and we saw all these emergency vehicles fly by blaring there horns so I took off and wanted to see what was going on. It was a couple power lines that had been blown down by the giant storm we had yesterday. I drove by before they had the chance to block off the road. It was the biggest arch Ive ever seen, actully burnt into the ground about 6" and seriously melted the dirt. I felt it as I drove by vibrating my car. As I was taking my wife to work she wanted to go by to see it and that she did. I told her not to look at it... But yeah, she did and ended up getting a little flash burn for a few hours. Pretty cool though, didnt happen to get a pic, I didnt think I had the camera with but I did and just forgot about it. Whatever, just thought Id share it with all you.

And hello everyone LOL..

Florida is known as the Lightening Capital of the World

My grandfather told me when I was wittle : ) (like yesterday: ) that lightening was caused when the `Angels were having a party & it was their light show 2 the world : )
Sometimes, I think they were all drunk or Smok'in Zomething ~>LOL
Here's `Spaces Lesson 4 the `day What LOL
How far away is the lightning?
When you see the lightning, count the number of seconds until you hear thunder, then divide by 5 to know how many miles away the lightning is. This is possible since light travels faster than sound. Sound travels at 1,100 feet per second. If the lightning is closer than 30 seconds, it’s time to get to safety.
How do I get to safety in the outdoors?
No matter what type of area you are in, assume the lightning position, as described by NOLS – “squat or sit, ball up, put feet together, wrap arms around legs”. If possible assume this position on a pack or a foam pad. Avoid packs with metal frames. Don’t touch any metal objects. If in a group, spread out 50 feet apart, as best as possible. The inside of a tent may not be good since if camped in a field the tent may be the highest point, and the tent may have metal poles to conduct electricity, and create indirect energy also known as “current streamers”.
Do NOT take cover under a tree. Lightning will most likely hit a high point in the area, and being too close to that point (like an isolated tree), the discharge spreads out, and you may be hit by the current streamers. Do your best in the middle of a forest to be equal-distant from the trees in the area.
What do I do if someone is struck by lightning?
After the storm has passed, if someone is struck, medical attention may be required. Only provide medical attention to the level that you are trained. Lightning can injure in three ways: electrical shock, secondary heat production, and Explosive force. The electrical shock may stop the cardiac and respiratory functions of the body. Administer CPR. Burns may occur from the secondary heat production. If trained, treat for burns by cooling and cleaning the burns, use non-stick bandages, and then evacuate. Finally, there is a potential that the body has suffered trauma (such as fractured bones from muscle spasms or explosive injuries. Such injuries require advanced medical training.
Summer is hurricane season, and hiking season, in the “Lightning Capital of the World”. Stay safe, be attentive, and be prepared. A little planning before heading out can make a big difference.
