Morning all!
Happy Independence Day to ALL of the MCF Family. I hope everyone has a SAFE day, and gets a chance to play REAL hard today.
This IS the day to remember that our ancestors FOUGHT HARD for our freedom for US (not the U.S. but us). We have freedom to do just about anything we want to do (within reason), and go anywhere we want. No papers required. Just go. We tend to take SO MANY things for granted. Out of site, out of mind. 1776. That was a LONG time ago. Today is the day that we SHOULD be remembering those fallen soldiers that gave it all right here on our ground, so we could have the freedom to worship as we want, and live as free as was possible in those days. Do we live free now? Compared to many other countries, we have little to complain about, yet we do.
So party hard today, but remember that it's our ancestors that gave us our freedom.
So light up the skys with fireworks, shoot off those cannons, decorate those bicycles and pontoons. Bring out the old cars and tractors. Ride your horses, and go watch your local parade with all your fellow neighbors. Enjoy the parades. Just don't forget, our freedom came with a price of lives lost over 230 years ago.
Today we go to Church and have our Church's big 4th of July picnic/potluck. We have games and things for the kids, a softball game, and of course, more FOOD than you can imagine. The local fire dept will be there to hose down the kids (the little ones WILL get knocked over, and maybe some of the bigger ones too!)
So enjoy the day, and check in later.

Space, my tranny is in, and all the major stuff hooked back up. I still have some loose ends to take care of. Going to play today, but hopefully it'll be back on the road tomorrow with no problems. I got only a little over $100 in this repair. I saved about $500-600 doing it myself. The biggest advantage to doing it myself? The confidence I have gained in the ability I STILL have to do a major repair like this myself. Pulling a transmission from a FWD car is a LOT of work. I'm thankful to have a good buddy like Scott N., a master mechanic, to lean on for advice and a little help. We put the tranny back in Friday night with little effort, and the axles, cradle, and much more I put back in yesterday. Like I said, just a few minor things left to do.
I just pray that I didn't miss something in my diagnosis and that I don't have to do this again soon. History tells me that I will be doing this again in about a year. I've had this car 4 1/2 years, and it's on it's 4th flex plate now. Do the math.
Lesson learned: ALWAYS put in NEW bolts in the driveline components, such as this. I firmly believe that a USED bolt failed to stay tight, even if it was 80K miles. It was loose, and loose is loose, not tight. New torque converter to flex plate bolts, which have thread locker applied from the factory, probably would still be in there. But the bolts I removed had no signs of thread locker. They were used bolts from before. A $4.44 bolt failed to stay tight. $600 labor by a master tech, and this is what happened.
What do they say? "If you want it done right, do it yourself." Sometimes this is SO true.

Happy 4th everyone!
Yesterday, i went to Charlotsville <SP? VA for a family reunion.
Filled the Intimidator and were on our way, it averaged about 27 mpg on a 3
hour drive, mostly highway til' we got to the city.
We are tired this morning and won't head down to the Mall (Wash,D.C) for the parades, but we'll catch the fireworks. I think we may go to my parents-inlaws house or to one of my wife's brothers place and hang out. But not sure yet.
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable day!
Careful with those fireworks, they can be dangerous.
