I worry that one of our kids will get really sick. With 20% unemployment there are a lot of families without insurance.

Chris, people in oregon DO NOT CARE. They don't have the money or resources. They'll just let the kids stay home and flunk classes. Sorry Todd. Nothing against Oregon, it was my home for a bit you know but... MAN I'M GLAD I'M BACK!
Chris don't worry about looking tarded. We're monte friends. We can cruise wherever we want.

Robyn there seem to be a lot of parents who do not care. I know that I have had had 50 kids miss school time so far this year and not one parent has called me to ask for homework. The kids who are succeeding seem to have a lot higher rate of parent involvement. Funny how that works. As far as no money you are correct. We as a state are in a very bad situation. We rely on income and property tax for all of our services, ie education, police, fire etc. When we have a recession then people stop working and there is no income tax or property tax. That is why we have tried to pass a sales tax. The citizens of Oregon are very anti tax and vote down everything even if it means cutting 30 days of school and failing to educate the leaders of tomorrow. Only time will tell if we can fix this issue.
Stepping off the soap box now.

Todd... you're not telling me anything I don't already know. That is why I moved (in addition to the fact that my husband cheated on me). That state needs sales tax. School tax. It also needs more industry. Not so much logging and etc, but more retail, more businesses need to grow and build there. With the land use laws that changed, you can no longer live off your own land. I know where you're coming from believe me.
I worked for one of THE BIGGEST companies in Oregon (H&D), made good money well ok nowhere NEAR what I'm making now, but everybody in Oregon it seems is so close minded and anti change. What they don't understand is that if you keep doing things the same way it is assinine to expect different results!!
Todd, you could probably make great money as a teacher elsewhere. Even washington state. Think about it...you're young, you deserve to have a year-round position.
Just reread your last post...20% UNEMPLOYMENT?!?! Holy CRAP! It was only 10% last year when I left!!!

The unemployment is killing us. As far as pay I would make the same amount just about anywhere. Of course I may have a job somewhere else for a whole year. lol right now I am tired down here to my family and the house I bought. If it gets worse then I may start looking at moving to washington or even up to alaska.
