Hi all! We had gorgeous weather here and took advantage of it by getting Silver ready for winter. Clay barred him and gave him a good coat of NXT wax. I made sure that the inside door seams got a good coat of wax cause the passenger side is starting to bubble with rust (which is very common with these cars). I am going to get the problem addressed this spring when I get the hood and front bumper repainted - I am going to get the doors fixed and rustproofed.

I wish I could pick up some used 16" Monte or Impala rims cheap for winter wheels. I would be pretty upset if my 17" Chromes got ruined. But my thinking is if they have already survived 4 IL winters they can survive a couple more.

My doorsills aren't rusty, it's that bit by my windshield on the drivers side that somebody obviously just painted over the rust b4 sanding it down, looks like crap, and the bit by my rear tailight. I don't do wax jobs... I can't stand the wax on wax off crap. Hurts my arm, and since I been in that accident, the less movement of my back the better off I feel.

Amy it's a '05. It shouldn't be rusting.

The sills don't rust - the door seams rust especially on the passengers side. Lift up the black rubber strip that runs along the bottom of the door seam and (if your car was from the snow belt that uses salt) you will find rust bubbles. At least on the 04s and 05s. When I was shopping for my 2nd Monte for my DD every one I looked at, the passenger side door seam was bubbling.

Ryan, I will head back to my grandpa's then over the pass. It should have up to two feet of new snow from this big storm that rolled in. My mom is with me to keep me awake so that is good.

Chris, I left the monte home as they were call for up to 3 feet of new snow. I took my parents 2000 Chevy Silverado 4X4. It does better in deep snow. The monte is awesome in the snow though. Last year we had multiple 6 inch dumps of snow and it handled great. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Only reason I left it home is I didn't want to put chains on it if they shut the mountain passes down.

Living in So Oregon, we didn't get the snow we just had tons of treacherous black ice. That is NOT fun to drive on in a Pontiac G5. What I thought was funny, is that the car KNEW when it was driving over ice... my driver information center would flash "ICY CONDITIONS" and the traction control would go crazy.

Todd... stay in portland dude at least until tomorrow. I hate driving over those passes with 2 and 3 feet of snow. I once got stuck on the Siskiyou's in my 03 bonnie in the snow AND FOG. Dangerous stuff dude!
