Yeah, the skill is definitiely fading and will continue to decrease as more Hybrids come out with their CVT style transmissions. In a while, us "30-somethings" will be telling our grandkids about the good old days when cars used gasoline and sometimes they had manual transmissions that we had to shift for ourselves, LOL! :p

Paddle shifters are a whole new story I like them. Tried it out on a Z28 I rented last year in AZ.

First experience with a clutch was a 1995 Volvo truck.... 10 on the floor, take that! Then I drove a buddy's Mustang with a 5 speed. Our old 1950 Chevrolet truck had a 4 on the floor. Rigth now, I am restoring a '74 Ford truck with a 3 speed manual.

I can and love it!

I learned in a 1990 Subaru Justy 3cyl 5spd with push button 4wd! ... tiny little car underpowered especially in 4wd but would get 40 mpg easy all day long

I have driven 5 speed fwd cars, 5spd Rwd cars and trucks best one was a 69 Camaro, also have driven 10 speed Volvo semi and 10 speed white GMC semi

I miss driving a manual, my last DD was a manual and i just feel you have sooo much more control while driving one, you conect more with the car, your more in sync with it!

The Monte will be getting a T56, 350 backed by 6 gear i control it'll be a roit!!!!

I tought amy how to drive a manual about 4 years ago and she's glad she learned

I taught myself on a 1990 Subaru wagon when I was 17. I have owned many manuals over my time.

Tried to teach my wife in the 280Z.
Was at a stop sign.
Very, very slight uphill.
On loose gravel.
Joggers ahead.
She revs, rolls back a little.
She gives it more gas and dumps clutch.
Zcar launches, fishtails and sprays gravel.
Joggers freak out and dive for the bushes.
She never tried again...
