Manual Tranny; The Fading Art
Are you able to drive a manual transmission? It seems that there are fewer of us out there with the experience to use the third pedal. I learned to drive when I was 10 years old on a 1979 Jeep CJ7. What did YOU learn to drive a manual in?

Drivers Ed had 1974 Chevy Novas with automatics.
Glad a buddy taught me
First car was a 67 VW beetle, learning was not that bad. If you dumped the clutch it stalled.
Car I had just before the MC was a Firebird with a 5 speed.

Never owned a manual vehicle, but working at a body shop and driving tow trucks I had to learn real quick. Sometimes I will jump in a manual car after not driving one for a while and its not as fluid as I would like but a minute or two of driving and Im back in the groove. The tow trucks are a different story. They are much easier to drive than a car because of the torque.
The thread about zjerry's 17 year old son is what inspired me to start this thread. I got to drive a friend's HUMMER H3 the other day and I realized that I hadn't driven a manual in a LONG time.
Thanks, but he is not insured on the corvette at this time..
^^^LOL. I know that my dad would have been NUTS to have let me learn on a classic Corvette. I was just wondering if the skill is fading away as more vehicles are sold as automatics.
