Is the LT4 Engine Chevy’s Hellcat?

Late yesterday, Cadillac released a treasure trove of photos and information on its newest luxury rocket ship, the CTS-V. If you were worried about it not being able to fill its predecessors shoes, don’t be, it’s going to be extraordinary.
To start, the new CTS-V uses a detuned version of the supercharged LT4 engine found in the Corvette Z06. However, instead of pumping out 650 horsepower, the new V has to make do with “only” 640 horses. Hence, the “detuned” aspect of the car.

That being said, using the LT4 actually came as a bit of a surprise to many. With Cadillac and other manufacturers lately going for the turbocharged route, we figured that the car would come out with some form of a highly-tuned turbocharged V6. That way the car would have better fuel economy, but still make gobs of horsepower.
In light of GM using that wonderful LT4 in the new V, it got us thinking where we might see it next. Could GM pull off a Hellcat-esque media blitz?

When the Hellcat Challenger was first announced, we all counted ourselves lucky to be in a world where you could buy a 707-horsepower anything from a dealership with a warranty. Then Dodge unveiled the Hellcat Charger and we all collectively flipped out once again. It’s come to a point that every journalist is looking for the next Hellcat in Dodge’s stable, whether that be a Jeep, or even more hilariously, a Hellcat Fiat 500XL.
With GM now debuting the CTS-V with the LT4, did they see the success of the Hellcat media blitz and decide to try to emulate that success? Will the LT4 be talked about as much as the Hellcat was? Probably not to the same extent, but it could it be going in the next generation Camaro due out next year, which would make for some interesting competition.

We’re in a new golden age of horsepower, one that doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Long forgotten are the storied muscle car years of the late 60s to early 70s — they couldn’t hold a candle to anything from the modern age. I think it's great that GM is putting some ponies under their hoods again, it is weird to me that they would choose a caddy to put a motor like that into though, I would have just assumed (and yes I know you should never do that) it would have logically moved into the camaro as most people don't associate caddies with high power motors, even though I know they have them, when I look at a caddy the thought of racing doesn't come to mind, I picture a comfortable ride and honestly not going too far above the speed limit and just enjoying the ride it has to offer.
The vette pictured would be what I would picture and purchase for performance as well as the camaro and the Challenger.
But.........the caddy is the ultimate sleeper car in this aspect if you are into them
