I do enjoy the Subies. They are very fun. I was never a fan of the EVO styling, even if Top Gear said it was much better handling.
or an Evo?

Evo's are pretty nice.. AWD-turbo-4 door and tons of aftermarket if i remember right. Ever thought about an Audi? I'm not sure about the trans. but i know they make some good lookin sedans. also was thinking one of the newer taurus ( furd

Big money pits when they go bad, after about 20 years. They don't lose transmissions at 100k like some cars though. :/

I know one of my friends is on a forum with his EVO and they get sponsor deals for turbo upgrade kits and all sorts of aftermarket goodies. I'm not a big fan "looks wise" of the evo's or subaru's, but you've gotta respect their power, comfort, etc.

There are reasons why luxury car companies such as Mercedes and BMW offer Maintenance Packages with their cars. They are not easy to work on, and parts are very expensive.
Did you know BMWs oil changes cost $100 to get done? My friend at work told me how much he pays for an oil change and I was like
so I looked into how to do one. Such a PITA.

A former neighbor of mine is a mechanic at a local (upperscale) import car dealership. Among other makes, they sell and service BMW. He said the mechanics commonly refer to BMW's as "BM trouble-you". Says they look great sitting in a parking lot, but break down a lot considering the money you're paying for their so-called engineering excellence. And as others here mentioned, everything about them is expensive to fix and maintain.
Go with an EVO or Subi. You can always do mods if you want. I wouldn't worry too much about re-sale value. You're always going to lose money when you go to sell it. Go with the vehicle that suits your needs and style.

Eh, I still wouldn't mind one. New American cars are actually putting in some better interiors now so I'm swaying back from the European side.
Also, Subarus appreciate in value
