Looking for 1st bike. 1993 Yamaha FZR 600?
So I'm looking into getting my first motorcycle. I know of a 1993 Yamaha FZR 600 for sale and was wondering how decent of a bike it was. Anyone have opinions on them?
This is not the bike but it looks very much like this one.

I don't know much about bikes but my fiance as owned a bunch of them. He does prefer the Yamaha brand and I know he's owned 600cc and 900cc bikes - don't remember if they were under the Ninja name or not - I know the 900cc one was. His were a few years newer than the bike you are looking at though.

How much do they want for it? You can get a cbr 600 for under $3k around here with less then 10k miles or a ZX6r for about the same price. So keep that in mind when looking at 20 year old bikes. Not to mention finding parts/maintenence.
I wouldn't buy anything till you test it and feel comfortable on it.

If you dont wanna spend more than $1300 than id pass on buying one till u can save up for a newer one, old bikes can be a pain maintained or not its still an old bike and itll have issues

Honestly I don't mind doing a little maintenance stuff on a cycle. Its kind of fun and I enjoy it. Plus the thought of it being older and might (long shot) fall apart when I'm driving it will hopefully keep me from driving too fast on it. I will just take it slow for now and see how things progress. He may sell it before I give an answer or something. Thanks for the input on this!

save up for a better bike man rockets only run till like 20k if not a little more then **** the bed. Try to get one with under 7k .being that its a older one im assuming there are a good amount of miles. I recommend Honda CBR for a speed bike over anything else, Yamaha sadly comes near the bottom of my list. but thats my own opinion maybe it will turn out a great bike after all, just take it to a mechanic and have him give it a look over even if its your buddys bike and make sure everything is ok. My buddy buys fixes and resells them and ive seen him get screwed bad a few times and one of the bikes blew up on the ride home so make sure you check EVERYTHING.

I think I will pass on it. Mainly because anything costing more than this I can't afford right now. The other reason is to be honest I'm a honda cycle guy. My dads had his 82 CX550 Custom for years now and it really hasnt had any problems. I will definitely be looking for a CBR when I get in the market though.
