I can't figure the logic??
...for 06-07, the Impala is nothing more than a 4 door Monte Carlo....
....so what is a 2-door Impala if it is not a Monte Carlo?

I'd say it is.

i didn't see any monte carlo's last week. i must have missed that.
Dale Jr. was still running his DEI #8 Monte Carlo. Scraped the crap out of the right side.
Think that was on purpose?

Last week only the Impala's ran since they ran the COT.....
Nascar was behind the push for Chevy to drop the Monte.....
Chevy stopped selling (advertising) the Monte in 2005.....
2006 there was no push to sell the car......

REASON FOR THIS CHANGE WAS THAT NASCAR WANTED EVERY
CAR TO BE THE 4 DOOR MODEL.....

IMPALA AS MOST WILL SAY THAT ITS A 4 DOOR MONTE.....

I THINK CHEVY SHOULD HAVE HELD THEIR GROUND AND TOLD NASCAR TO SHOVE IT

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 4 DOOR SPORTS CAR

I DONT CAR WHAT ANYONE OF YOU SAY ABOUT THAT.......

REBEAT..... A 4 DOOR CAR IS NOT A SPORTS CAR...... IT IS A F..KING FAMILY CAR...

I agree. Especially when people keep calling the new Charger a sports car. Or even a "sports sedan".
A four door is not a sports car. You want your Charger to be a sports car, weld the rear doors shut.

Tell that to auto makers as they keep trying to convince us 4-doors ARE sport vehicles.

I was thinking the same thing. I am not sure what the ad campaigns are like around North America for Nissan, but here in Las Vegas they are pushing the new Altima coupe stating "Coupes are back!" ?!?!?!?!?!?! I could not believe when I heard this. Followed by..."This is not just a 2-door sedan. This car has been engineered from the ground up. Sport-tuned suspension, more aggressive engine and styling..." They talk like they just reinvented the coupe or something!! To top it off, it just looks like a junior 350-Z. Does this trouble anyone else, or am I just being picky?

It's all marketing bullsh*t Jay. We all know that.
Give somebody re-heated leftover "beenie-weenies" and call it a 7 course dinner. If the public buys it, that's all they care about.

I know what you guys were talking about.. at first I liked the car, but the more I see it, the more I think it's the car a family guy drives thinking he's got a 350 Z... I mean with both of them out.... why still have the Z?

GM didn't have luck with the Vette performance coupe, and the Monte.... Why would Nissan do any better with the Altima in 2 door trim, when the Z has two less cylinders, 60 or 80 less HP, and the same idea as a Corvette? At least Chevy gave the Monte it's own name and didn't make it simply a Impala coupe.... who wants to buy an Impala coupe? (save for the resto-ride guys)

Honestly, save for thinking somehow the Z looks better, why would anyone opt for it, when put up agains a vette? A vette in base trim has just as much room (if not more), more power, and IMHO looks a hell of a lot better. Plus, it has the HISTORY of aperformance vehicle made in america going way back. I had never heard of the first Z... even though I have to admit the big time advertising and PR of the 350 gave me a bug for a while. At least untill I saw the MSRP of the only version worth getting (the most expensive). Only thing I think a Z has on the Vette? Sound... they're exhaust is pretty aggressive, even with the V6. Well, except the vette that has the exhaust that opens up at 3500 RPM.
